    Hi Laura, i am 30 years dx RRMS this year(dx at 17 years old), and while I’ve faired very well as my disease course has been mainly sensory spinal/optic neuritis/some minor ie single instance mid brain/brain stem involvement , fatigue is my main challenge.
    It has worsened each 5 years and while I take Modafinil to help, I still cannot manage to live a “normal” life now purely due to MS Fatigue.
    With the emerging scientific data on Epstein Barr Virus causing MS, Cocoa with its Anti-Viral properties makes logical sense as a helpful adjunct for MS Patients
    I have just started to drink Aduna Super-Cacao Powder from Amazon as it’s Raw African and very high in flavonoids
    I will update on my progress with it.
    Thankyou so much for highlighting this rarely mentioned source of help for for MS fatigue xxx

      Hi, thanks for taking the time to write and share this. I really feel for you in regards to the MS fatigue because you are right, when you have it you are really unable to live a ''normal'' life - it is a very debilitating symptom.
      I found that when I was first diagnosed I had no experience of MS fatigue, then about 4 years into my diagnosis my fatigue was chronic to the point where I was having time off work and spending a lot of my day in bed. I realised after researching that they were carrying out these studies on cocoa and I started drinking a cup every morning. I believe it changed my fatigue. What I also feel has hugely improved my fatigue and time that I can remain active during the day, is the heights supplements. I sleep better and my fatigue has reduced significantly. If you get time, please look it up.

      I would be extremely interested to hear how how you get on with the cocoa and if it helps you. I think 6 weeks is where you may start to feel a difference. I will look into the cocoa you mentioned too as I'm always interested in trying new alternatives. Good luck 🤞

      @@lauraironstalksms Thank you so much for your reply and the additional information which I will most certainly read Laura.
      I also had no fatigue outside relapses for many years. It took about 15 years post first relapse in 1991 for it to kick in- so I have been very very fortunate really.
      My body still works really well 33 years post first relapse/ 30 years post diagnosis. Apart from numbness, clumsiness from attacks of loss of joint position sense and pain. I can even still run (short distance).
      But this fatigue is like wearing a wet, lead cloak that gets heavier as the day goes on. Some days I wake up and it’s already too heavy to bear- although that is rare.
      If I can eliminate or just lessen it my whole life would open up again.

    Hello Laura, I've been using organic raw cacao powder in my smoothies and coffee for years. I don't know if it helps with my MS, but it's a potent super food, so it must be beneficial. Plus, I'm kinda of a chocolate junkie.🍫😄

      Yes! Cocoa smoothies are the best..I did a video of a smoothie recipe on that a long time ago 😊 Cocoa in coffee that's a new one on me but sounds good - like a moccachino?! I'm a chocolate fan too, but just love dark chocolate, now there's no need to justify it 😝. Keep well too and Blwyddyn Newydd Dda 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

      @lauraironstalksms You may or may not know, but check out the differences between cacao and cocoa. The cacao I use is more bitter but has more nutritional benefits than cocoa. Either way, you can't go wrong with one or the other.👍

    This is very interesting news about cocoa helping fatigue in MS. I love dark chocolate and have bern having some every day for approx a year now because I had started noticing how much it helped improved my energy level and my mood too. Sometimes I make a smoothie with organic cocoa powder and coconut milk. I also mix some cocoa powder into plain greek yogurt with a dash of vanilla, pinch of salt, and tiny bit of sweetener like allulose or coconut sugar. It tastes a lot like chocolate cheesecake. Can use nondairy coconut or almond yogurt.

      If you're OK with milk, then I'd recommend Cadbury Bournville Cocoa, 250 g - that's the one I've been drinking since I starte. Not only is it cheaper than most rival brands, but it's 100% cocoa. If you need it to be vegan then try Sevenhills Wholefoods Organic Cacao Powder 1kg - this is £15 but is totally organic and for a 1kg bag. Hope that helps.
