LYRICS:
You keep me running round and round,
Well that's alright with me,
Up and down, I'm up the wall,
I'm up the bloody tree.
That's alright with me,
Yeah, that's alright with me,
Well, it feels alright to me,
Yeah, it looks alright to me.
And, I'm so tall, I'm so tall,
You raise me and then you let me fall.
And I'm so small, I'm so small,
Wrap me round your finger, seen before.
Here we go
You keep me running round and round,
Well that's alright with me,
Nothing, nothing, nothing's gonna
Step in my way.
Living on the ceiling,
No more room down there.
Things fall into place,
You got the joke, fall into place.
Well I'm so tall, I'm so tall,
You raise me and then you let me fall.
And I'm so small, I'm so small,
Wrap me round your finger, seen before.
You keep me running round and round,
Well that's alright with me,
Up and down, I'm up the wall,
I'm up the bloody tree.
Hiding from your questions,
Questions you won't ask.
"Why am I up the tree" you say,
"Why are you down there" I'm saying.
Well I'm so tall, I'm so tall,
You raise me and then you let me fall.
And I'm so small, I'm so small,
Wrap me round your finger, seen before.

Still up the tree in 2024
are you down from the tree
The days when music was original. Glad I was a teenager back then and enjoyed every minute of it.
Same. Great music then ,listen to more from the 80s than anything recent.
Takes me back ,life was good.
June 2024 ..
Living on the Ceiling
🙃💞
One of the best new wave tunes of the 80's. Innovative, original, colorful, with exotic touch.
What a great track .. listening in 2024
Still sounds great 40 years later
Fresh as a daisy
40 years, holy crap. Just think, when we were in high school, music 40 years old was big band music!
A head of its time in music
Still sounds great 40 years and 7 months later.
Awesome
When I listened to this back in the 80's, I was just a teenager, and he was a grown up. Now when I watch . I'm the old one and he is the young one, if you know what I am saying, he looks so young in this video.
I know what you mean, N and S look so young here! I met Neil recently and to be honest he hasn't aged a great deal!
This song is totally slept on - it should be a key track on every 80's / new wave playlist. Unbelievable energy!
Agree 10000000000%....he's just wow !!
omg it’s been a million years ❤ you raise me and then you let me fall
This song gets better with age
I've just bought a ticket to see them in concert in Manchester in May 2024.
Awesome :)
It's only Neil these days but Blancmange live are definitely worth seeing.
Man, I wish I could have told my 13 year old self to be more open to listening to this kind of music. At least I’m discovering it 40 years later.
I'm up the bloody tree.
Why are you down there I say?
❤it
Love that Lyric
@@nutster9000why are you up there I say?
@@therunawaykid6523amen😆🌴
I am 62 and this still sounds great
At 64, it sounds even better! 🤣
Boss song
The barber looking and thinking, dude, I can’t do my job while you’re performing.
😆
Best part of the video 😂
Classic 80s tune once heard never forgotten if only music were like this now
Das ist gut 40 Jahre alt !!!!.......und immer noch cool
This is timeless , absolute banger
This longer version of Living On The Ceiling is fantastic. The dancers are superb. This Middle Eastern culture theme really fits the song well.
Love, love, love this song. Takes me back to being young. Anything seemed possible back then. The 80's had a vibe/feeling that I can't put into words. Sadly it will never return
It's a bloody PEACH!
the 80s were an amazing to be a teenager
Just glad i was a teenager in the 80s proper music proper bands not like the crap today
This track (and band) was way ahead of it's time. A touch of talking heads in there.
Why were they way ahead of their time? Talking heads were the 80s too. Sounds very much of it’s time.
Talking Heads were formed early to mid 70s.@@teleaddict23
One of my favorite songs of the 80s.
The chorus was the opening theme of the news in Arabic in Israel in the ‘80s, so whenever I listen to it I’m saying in my head “Sayidati wa sadati”.
So cool..I’m 50 years old now…miss the 80s❤️☹️
Happy Birthday, Neil Arthur!
Unforgettable for me as it was playing on the radio when I had my first and only car crash aged 17. I was driving to school with some neighbours kids when I rear ended a car that stopped to make an illegal right turn. The stereo flew out so I couldn't reach the volume knob to turn it off. A car then drove into the back of me. It continued to be surreal for a little while as the other kids in the back seat were crying. Which I also couldn't turn off.
you coulda punched their momma in the mouth! (beauford T Justice)
I was 18 when this was released , brilliant song pure eighties, great time to be alive.
You old I was only 7
Forgot all about this song. Just had to go and buy their greatest hits cd as a result as I forgot how good this band was.
From that first drum hit, you know the tune. Fantastic 80's anthem.
One of my favourite songs and videos of all time.
One of those rare brilliant pop songs with an entirely instrumental chorus.
YOU KEEP RUNNING UP AND DOWN WELL THATS ALL RIGHT WITH ME UP AND DOWN IM UP THE IM UP THE BLOODY TREE, BLOODY MARVELOUS LYRICS
Used to dance to this back in the day - can't believe there aren't more views and likes here. C'mon people!
No taste these people we are babies from the late 60s that's why we are so up in our music for our well spent youth eh.........😊😂😂❤❤
It still sounds so good in 2024 in my opinion!
Enjoyed blancmange in concert last week in Glasgow supporting Howard Jones. Fantastic night for us oldies.
Less of the old Blackburn. I'm 55 years young and I can still throw some shapes on the dance floor. I feel like 20 years old most of the time.❤❤🥰🥰🥰🥰😇💪🤸♀️🏋♀️🤼♂️👍
@@CarmelDeery lol - I do ok - and was in my prime when these guys were new. Still got it too.
When a label would fly you to Egypt and produce a video like this for you
This is such a great track and beautifully restored
Always loved the sitar part glad I finally found out who and what song it was after all these years
Yeah and we can be grateful this video was captured on film as it looks sensational!
Classic 80’s Synthpop
...and 4 years later I was living ... in Cairo. Helwa giddan!
Hearing this full version for the first time as I type, loving it!
Great times 80s. Smash hits, totp, buying singles,lp's. Free happy times.
Truly one of the best 80's songs!
First: The vid is now an historical record that shows how much Egypt has changed. Second: Tuuuuuuuuuune!
Chooooooon!!!
❤Truthful is illegal❤,... sad 21st century,....such a disappointment❤
This song has kept me running round and round since the 1980's but that's alright with me.
The greatest music of all time was the 1980s.
Love this song 40 years ago , this music hasn't age, but I did lol 😆
I was 18 years then. I'm still dancing on the ceiling lol
man bring back the 80s

Saw them play in Cardiff 2 days ago; absolutely brilliant.
Nice hair cut. And great song. Any of us lucky people who were teenagers or early 20,s when all this cool music came out were so so lucky. Great times that will never be repeated.
New wave royalty when it comes to singles … sincerely amazingly produced and crafty … still amazes me on this side of the pond it wasn’t a hit but only on the dance charts … even today, it sounds fresh and above what is being released these days … The first song I ever tried to play on the piano
That is the old Duran Duran cover remember that seeing that on your profile 😀
Would run to the dance floor every time any of their songs played....or played them over and over in bed at night.....lyrics and music so innovative and timeless and transporting...♥
I just love his suit..... cant get anything like it today...
The musical interlude with just the beat and the tablas is very trancey. Blancmange always were ahead of their time. When I say this I also think of the brilliant "all things are nice" off Mange Tout which anticipates a lot of later house music.
Brilliant song
Loved it then, still love it now! Cracker tune from 1983!
The belly dancers are hypnotic
Always are
Brilliant, then now and forever
This is a great song and well produced. I wish more people would listen to this marvel.
One of the first songs I remember hearing on MTV in the 80s
WHAT A TUNE THIS SONG HIS. AMAZING.😊
this is an incredibly well written song with great audio and amazing video.
This is brilliant! The arabic rhythms work so well that you cannot sit still when listening to it.
why am i up tree you say. why are you down there I say. .... a brilliant line never forgotten.
I’m so small I’m so small wrapped around your finger then you let me falllllllllllllllll
I was up the bloody tree picking apples. Why were you down there eating them I sapose....ha ha 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Brillant song still love it in my 50s
Same age absoluely love this jam, what a well done tune!! They got the whole egyptian thing mixed with synth down to a T!
I remember the bbc made them change it to up the cuckoo tree for top of the pops / radio play
0:38 that shot is so awesome
She's gorgeous
Absolutely beautiful. Those eyes are to die for.
WOW! I played this on the radio at WFIT-FM in Melbourne, FL shortly after the album was released. This brings back soooo many memories! Would love to see them live someday.
Still looks and sounds incredible. Well done guys! Your work stood the test of time.
Oooh - 80's magic !!!! Had the album - played it to death !!! LOVE this song ! Thanks for sharing guys!!!
I feel Sick..it can't be 40 years!! The music is like only yesterday...just likeNew❤❤❤❤
Since 80's electronic music didn't evolve, at 90's it degenerated into trance and techno, and later just stagnated completely. Now it is somewhat renaissance.
@@urmo345 Strong synth-pop did not degenerate into trance and technology. Neither did 70's funk and discovered. The 90s onwards did not devour these classic ages...meaningful, mindful music. Genesis reminded us.
Disco......does not stagnate...I meant to say.💖
80s forever
Used to love driving around Vice City to this tune on my psp lol and so many other great 80s classics on that game! I love how he sounds northern when he says bloody tree 😂 Always made me think of Phil Oakey from Human League 😎
スゴイ🎵
こんなにキレイな映像で見れるなんて🎵💞
生きてて良かった~😆
I'm up the bluddy tree!
Listening to this tune today i really didn't appreciate how good it is was when a teenager ❤
Great song and a brilliant video restoration. Things fall into place, you got the joke, fall into place. 👍
Wish I'd been into them back in the day..but I'm sure into them now! Classic 80s!
I can't believe I remembered this song and the band it wasn't recommended or heard on a pl.
It's good to hear it again after all these yrs.❤😊
The dont make music like this no more ❤
I'm up the bloody tree further👍 the beat OMG the sound and the Voice👍👍👍
I had totally forgotten about this song...I love it...Thanks for bringing great memories of the 80's💖
Wish I could go back there...a much better time and place😮💨😮💨😮💨
Fantastic song
One of those Iconic 80's songs that defines the decade. I must have been listening to this as a kid on a rubbish stereo because there are percussion parts to this song I never heard until now. Always good to revisit the past. I still like Blind Vision.
Still jamming this in 2023. One of the best tunes of all time!
Timeless perfection. You guys got the sounds & production spot on first time all those years ago & it still sounds amazing today.
For me, the standout track of the 80s.
And I like how the singer comes in and say YER👍
Thanks to an Egyptian cat I was able to find this treasure in the middle of the desert
❤️❤️❤️ the smile is so rememberable!
Brilliant 👏 🎉
Love this song!
Looks like they had a good laugh in this as they did in 'Don't tell me'!
So good. Great memories. First band I ever saw in concert supporting Japan.
Me too in Brighton. 1982 from memory. Brilliant concert.
oh wow never knew they supported Japan, arrived too late for my Japan concert so missed the support , i know they supported Depeche Mode when i saw them in 1981 in Hanley, his mic failed on the first song and he stormed off....haha
lucky you! That must have been a brilliant concert with 2 fab groups in the 80s this classic is one of my all time favourites especially the extended version
That's very rare , I'm charmed, bless you 🏴
Mega track! Will live on forever like much of their material. They were so different, very individual duo but Luscombe could look the image of Vince Clarke at times
Every one says that, they do know each other too
@@clairesmith1964 I looked up how much Vince Clark was worth & it's ALOT compared to his many mates. SUCH a talent!
Awesome, Totally Awesome!
