Patient zero of that VR6 in a hatch wasn't the R32 though. it's Golf MkIII vr6 with 174 bhp [even the VW corrado counts in this case, since it was earlier and technically also a hatch] - Golf Mk 4 Vr6 GTi with 204 bhp - Golf mk 4 R32 with 240/241 bhp and THEN the one you showed and described: the Golf Mk 5 R32 with 250 bhp. So looking at it, it's been hot on the WRX-sti/evo heels for quite some time now...but than again, I reckon you only started to get it with the Mk V R32 in the US, right?

I'm not sure what the rules are, but I guess they allow V6, V8 or V10. The racing Ford GT had a turbo V6. And it won
the v6 is used in Le Mans because its lighter and still has more power, and more reliable than a normal V8
