Psychiatry and the pharmaceutical industry are part of the same inhumane hyper-Capitalist system that are causing people to work unceasingly and suffer unsupported through grief and major life changes. I have zero faith that pharmaceuticals or psychiatry are truly helping anyone. They destroyed every area of my life by giving me meds causing akathisia and erroneously calling it mania and anxiety for 20 years. I can handle the financial ruin and rebuild my health and self esteem, but I will never stop missing my children this Mother’s Day or ever. Thank you for all you do, Dan. You are kinder to psychiatry than I will ever be.

Exactly. They would never have jnvented poisons that actually make you sick while claiming to cure you if it wasn't for the capitalist ideology and its industrial medical sector. Iven Illich wrote this once:
"A professional and physician-based health-care system that has grown beyond critical bounds is sickening for three reasons: it must produce clinical damage that outweighs its potential benefits; it cannot but enhance even as it obscures the political conditions that render society unhealthy; and it tends to mystify and to expropriate the power of the individual to heal himself and to shape his environment. Contemporary health care systems have outgrown these tolerable bounds. The medical and paramedical monopoly over hygienic methodology and technology is a glaring example of the political misuse of scientific achievement to strengthen industrial rather than personal growth."

This quote sums it up perfectly. This is the how and why of our current mental health crisis in the world and yet we are still looking to medicine to fix what damage they have mostly deepened.

I was misdiagnosed by a psychiatrist who spent a whole 8 minutes with me. Started me on Zyprexa in addition to other meds. I spent the next 3 years in a cascade of different meds and doses. So many different types of meds at the same time. I was essentially a low IQ zombie... lost connection to everything and everyone. I am in process of tapering off all these meds. I developed Tardive Dyskinesia and suffer a large amount of side effects. This whole process has ruined me! It is really hard to go on.

Have you ever looked into toxic encephalitis? It all has all the exact symptoms as benzo withdrawal. Toxic encephalitis is caused by man-made substances such as opiods ssris an anticonvulsant like benzos. It may be something you want to look into. Encephalitis is brain inflamation. Toxic encephalitis is caused by phyc drugs. But you have to look really deep into research ti find this. That's why Noone knows about this.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the term mental illness. I prefer mental distress since it's never been proven that a discrete illness is actually what's happening. Rather, it's a reaction to trauma, nutritional deficiencies, environmental/social factors, a symptom of another illness, etc. As for psychiatry, I'm generally opposed to it except as a short-term treatment in cases of acute symptoms and even then it may not be the best solution. It should be approached with caution and there needs to be a plan to taper off drugs as soon as possible. But if someone wants to use psych drugs long term, that's their choice. However, they should at least go into it with thorough informed consent.

I have a friend who was so excited to get an appointment with a psychiatrist for issues with depression. After about 15 minutes he got out his script pad for meds. When she inquired about talking through her issues he said, “I am a medical doctor and I write prescriptions. If you want counseling, book some sessions with our psychologists.”

Hi Dan, I watch so many of your videos and think out of all the people that make these kind of content you seem to be the best! I was never on Benzos but I was on oxycodone percocets 10mg 4 times a day for 3 years. I had a very bad leg injury and needed several surgery's. I went cold Turkey 15 months ago and I am still dealing with a lot of symptoms. It is getting a lot better recently thank God for that! My question is have you ever spoken to anyone that had or still has an injury caused by opiates? Thankyou Dan.❤

Exactly precisely all of this. I’ve been misdiagnosed and over medicated so many times, starting at prepubescent times, it shouldn’t be any wonder why my CNS is bojangled. I never cared for how quick the professionals slap labels, zero eye contact in under five minutes and they start throwing darts at a PDR. All I maybe ever needed could’ve been therapy, but shopping for rapport adds up. Dental pain sucks! I hope it doesn’t linger too long, happy thoughts!
