  • John from www.discountjui... compares the Omega NC800 and the Slowstar juicer in detail when juicing 3.5 pounds of navel oranges in each machine. In this episode, John will share with you the specific differences between these two cold press juicers and also show you the differences between them when juicing nothing but oranges in each of them. You will also discover the difference between the orange juice you purchase at the store and home-made orange juice from a slow juicer. After watching this episode, you will learn which one of these juicers will resign supreme in this juice off challenge.

Hi John. What's your current opinion on the champion juicer? Still decent for juicing fruits & veggies or should I start saving for a new juicer?
Thanks for all the time & effort you put into these videos for us.

What an impressive video! I was curious how well they did with softer fruit, thank you!

Love your videos John. Touché pouring the omega juice into the other pitcher without spilling a drop. That was professional :)

NC800 is the best juicer by far for everything, green leaves should be the main ingredient anyways. it's slow. it's easier to clean, faster to clean, and takes less water to clean. But juice quality will always go to the Norwalk for real cellular healing.

Hey John have you considered that the lighter color and texture is because of more air bubbles in the Slowstar? I seem to remember having the consistency you described with foamier liquids. I also can't imagine the white stuff under the orange peel to produce enough liquid to change the color that much. Thanks a lot for the comparisons, I am enjoying them a lot and it's important to compare different kinds of produce, as you did.

There are no air bubbles in the juice that I detected, and the fact that the pulp WAS more broken down, and the TASTE of the juice was much different, leads me to the fact that it was actually juicing the pith, like centrifugal ejection machines do (along with adding air). Maybe thats the next juice off - high speed vs slowstar??

DiscountJuicers.com I would agree that, although it was hard to see on the video, the slowstar appeared to homogenize the juice better, which is a result of smaller particle size ie. better mastication. Air bubbles would have promoted separation, which is the opposite of what you saw, particularly with larger particle sizes that trap the bubbles which then float to the top.

Hi John! How long did you run that Slow Star continuously before shutting it off? Are either of these juicers ideal for commercial use?

Just bought my slowstar from you John. Received it a few days ago.
But when I'm done juicing I notice that juice seems to be leaking around the base. Is this normal?

Cool video ... love the juice-offs. What really makes me puke is those juice bag things, how many carcinogens those must have in them. I never thought you could make OJ is a masticating juicer ... this is cool. Too much of the orange white though make the juice kind of bitter and oily though. I'm going to try this.

I am starting a very small juice delivery service, which juicer do you recommend. 16oz bottles (14-28 bottles a day)... any recommendations of which to start using?

For commercial uses, Health Dept says you must use a commercial kitchen and NSF rated juicer. I would recommend a large hydraulic press such as the X1 press.
