I bought a brand new picker like the New Idea in 1977, I pulled it with my 4020 diesel, and, it would really handle the corn. It was a great machine, took all of five minutes to hook up and go, and, with the big 12 roll husking bed could handle 150 bushel corn. Nice to see one still doing the work it was built to do.
Nice lineup. Thanks for sharing with all of us. It’s so much better than any static display. I myself am gathering some pieces and getting them ready to have a thresher days for a time when the grandkids get a little older.
It's difficult to fathom that these machines were once the cream of the crop when compared to what is available today. Everyone should have to experience what those days were like at least once. They would no doubt be more thankful, creative and conservative!

How I remember those days !! after school with an 8n+ single row new idea and cold !!weather buy the time ears had fully dryed down to put in the crib !!
Man, that old 237 picker. I hope that you guys have one or two for parts. I don't where n. the world you would ever find them anymore. Thanks so much! We have a spare for parts yes with a sheller on the back we may put on someday. We leave it on the propane tractor cause it is inconvenient to refill for us.
Could you please tell this old JD lover, and owner/operator, why do you youngsters have to put those ugly chrome stacks on these beautiful tractors? It takes so much away from the originality, not to mention the rightful sound these should be making. Other than that gripe, thank you for letting us oldtimers relive our past! Nicely done. Ron

Hey Dean, we run an operation pretty similar to yours here in Southeast Ohio. I was wondering if you have found a source for husking rolls on the JD 237's and New Idea pull type pickers?
Boem farm has a vidjeo where he replaced roller on his pull type J D from some body that works and deal parts for the like Video was out last year l think
My wife's grandfather came to the house all bruised up and not a stitch of clothing on ,,PTO got him but he live,, just banged up he was in his 70's ,,,not many walked away without serious injuries. Farming on you tube seems safe but those on thier no were to stand and what steps to avoid,,,never let non farm kids around your operation

Takes me back to fall in Beaver Dam Wisconsin as a kid visiting friends and going to the farm. Great times for sure.

We either shell it for feed or grind with a hammermill with the cobs for feed

Thiers that pro shaft on the elavator dad said to stay away from
I believe all farming dad's said to stay away from that shaft and didn't hesitate to say why.
@@dwightl5863 seeing this video, is like going down memorie lane, that hand crank on the elavator could get you when it spun out of control

Don't matter if new or old equipment. It all can kill you if you get careless!
