    Hi, I'm Saddam Paulino and I'm looking for an opportunity to learn about urban farms and learn English. I'm from the Dominican Republic.

      Hi Saddam, thank you for your interest. Make sure you subscribe to our channel. We also have a blog where you can find more articles about urban farms and some of the farmer projects we have been involved in. zipgrow.com/zipblog/ and if you are looking to start your own commercial operation I highly recommend UpStart University. You can start out with a one week trial to see if it's suitable for you. university.upstartfarmers.com/ we have certainly seen an increase in commercial interest from islands and countries like D.R. that typically have high import costs for year round fresh produce. We have supported farmers all over the world. You can find some of them here and read more about their businesses. zipgrow.com/farmers/

    How do you fight with mold and seedling damping off in such moist environment? This is the problem I am having all the time and I do not know what to do...

    • @ZipGrowInc
      @ZipGrowInc  2 роки тому

      Damping off is caused by several different fungi which thrive in cool wet conditions. Temperatures below 20C (68F) before germination has occurred and above 25C (77F) after emergence will promote these fungi; try to stay within this range. Excess moisture and too little airflow will also contribute to the problem. After germination your seedlings should dry back somewhat before being watered again; examine your irrigation schedule to make sure you're not overwatering. Having a small fan gently blowing across your seedlings will strengthen their stems but also help fight damping off.
      It's also important to sanitize your equipment between grow cycles as the fungal spores can survive on seedling trays etc.

    Love these videos and the new energy. I’d like to see an entire process from seed to harvest. I think the Zip system is one of the best and I’d like to see the full function.

    video, I watch it all the time and I watched some videos several times.
    When did you create an interesting growing system?

    • @ZipGrowInc
      @ZipGrowInc  2 роки тому +1

      The ZipGrow system was originally created by Dr. Nate Storey as part of his PHD. We started out as Bright Agrotech and are now ZipGrow. The idea is that it is scalable, simple, modular and accessible and food can be grown year round. Since it's original creation, we have had home growers and farmers successfully grow healthy crops in food deserts, urban locations and at home. This UA-cam video may be of interest to you on how Nate developed the towers.ua-cam.com/video/zQvBqVfTKhw/v-deo.html

    Hi, thanks for the information. I'd like to know what is the depht of water that you use for the irrigation event? I'm growing some seedlings now with a similar ebb and flow system but I have to irrigate them every other day because of the moist, and some green fungus have taken place.

      @@ZipGrowInc Hi, thanks for the answer. I didn't know what you say about the temperature, and yeah I also have some problems because I don't already have a temperature and humidity control but I'm working on that. Thaks for your videos and your information is specially usefull for people like me that are from countries with a lack of development in these subjects.

    I want to do this but I am old and don't know how to grow/farm... it's technically challenging for a non- agriculturist. So many details to learn....so many risk factors. You must know what you are doing.
