Cooking oil or olive oil seems to work best on my Gel Press plates. I give them a quick wipe with a baby wipe and that gets rid of the oil residue. Cooking oil is brilliant when you have used graphite on the plate.
Love you work thank you for sharing. Also I have used baby oil on a gell press plate to clean stubborn paint off then washed plate well in soapy water.
Usually I just roll on lots of wet acrylic cover with thick paper firmly over night 🌃 peel the paper off next day and for any little bits left use baby wipe.
That would certainly soak it. I find the soap and mineral oil combination refreshes the plate completely - mine look almost new after cleaning, and my largest one has been pretty heavily stained.
