I really love your work. Super heavy duty. I've done that before but your work is pretty much nicer than mine. This video will help me to do my job easier. 👍
Brother Allan I get so from watching your videos I am retired and like to build bar be Que pits, and smokers. I have learned a lot from just watching you. At the present I am working on 15 gallon barrel pit. I like how you use the angle iron for the lids, and the side vent.
I really like your channel. Its like a library of information, there's a whole lot of good ideas and examples of how to do just about anything that pertains to building some bbq pits. I guess I'm going to build a 55 gal drum pit. I really don't like the idea of how thin they are but its like the cheapest most available thing to use.
Picked up two 55 gallon drums this morning. Orange juice barrels without the liners!!! Have to wait until the fire danger drops around my area and then I'll be welding up my big ass BBQ while watching this video.
I had a hell of a time getting those L bars to fit doing 45 degree angles like that. So I just cut a square out of both sides of 2 bars so they just fit together like puzzle pieces and welded that. Great video!
thanks for the ideas. I have done a vertical grill where I just use the big round weber grate and it fits perfect. Looking to build a horizontal with an extra barrel I have
MAN! You are an awsome welder, the BBQ's I"ve been watching you put together there, and the precision that I see you cutting and welding with is incredible. My only wish is that I'm not closer to you. I would love to have you build a bbq / smoker for our VFW but I'm a little to far away for something like that.
awesome job buddy like the idea for actually putting angles on the lip of the grate frame instead of just tacking it to the drum looks good love to have one anywhere around alabama?
Great job! Cleanest one I have seen yet. I have a rusted one with the bottom warped and blown out in the back yard, should I just attach a half barrel to the bottom of it or maybe a sheet of stainless metal..
hey I want to say we seem to be at the same type grills in the same fashion I like the one that you build I think we could share some great ideas I need a both types hot water heaters and drums hey keep up the great work you looking good
thanks for the amazing video man, as a south african braaing is hella important so wanna build this exact braai stand. Just a question, what paint do you use on the actual drum and frame. And what wood...please respond would be a great help thanks
Question for you when you weld the 55 gallon drums do you use only the mig weld or are you flux core welding them. I know nothing about welding and want to know how to take a 55 gallon drum and weld a cooking to it and what kinda welding do I need as well as gage of steel if you are willing to answer this I would greatly appreciate it.
Very nice! My only concern is if the table on the front of the grill will make it difficult to reach the meat on the back of the grill. Is the front table/shelf removable?
i love your channel i get so many ideas from you as i make woodstoves from old expired propane tanks and now 55 gallon barrel stove and ovens but my question is where do i find one of those magnetic 3 inch wide tape measure i cant find any in canada?
I worked with a friend who had one of those REP barrels, he filled it up with water and got his torch ready, then drained the water from the barrel, then he was into cutting the barrel and it went off, and took part of his lower jaw with it, then the water he drained from it caught on fire and flashed over to his shed and burned it down. This man had been welding for over 12 years and it took him a long time to recover from it. It goes to show that time and experience still can't save some from being a dumbass...
What length and measurement of angle irons were you using when you connecting the two pieces together I am making a grill and just like this same size of drum.
I have a question I see you tack the front and back of the frame but what about the ends where the lip of the barrel is also ideas on the stand measurements
I know this video is 4 years old, but I’d really like to know how you weld your grates with no clamps and no warp it. I did that once and warped the hell out of it. Since then, I’ve been clamping down and letting it cook clamps so it doesn’t warp.
Why did they want a half pit instead of a 1/4 lid - the 1/4 lid leaves the pit more stable, less cutting and welding, the stack can be mounted in the center which will support the lid or mount in the uncut 1/4 in the end of the pit. You still have full access to the full grill surface plus you can add an upper shelf in the uncut 1/4 top section - much more stable and more useful as a 1/4 cut pit. Great job you have a lot of nice pits you built and all of those look like 1/4 door on them, just me but I would show people the benefits of 1/4 door it is lots less weight to open also.
This is the best video I have seen. You actually show the steps in making the smoker.
Best video so far Im now gonna attempt to make one for my husband. Thanks for the walk through.
So glad I ran across your sire on you tube! Another well built grill!

I have learned a lot from just watching you. At the present I am working on 15 gallon barrel pit. I like how you use the angle iron for the lids, and the side vent.
That's so much nicer than the last half cut drum I did. I've got to step up my game.
lol..I'm sure you can do it just as good as I did
Allen's welding/woodworking can i see the inside for the cooking surface?

Great video! What hinges did you use, and what size angle iron did you use to frame the drum? TIA
very nice
Did you draw up plans or did you just build this by eye?
I have a question I see you tack the front and back of the frame but what about the ends where the lip of the barrel is also ideas on the stand measurements
