In Episode 3 of Quality Control: A Product Review Series by KMKanDrum, I review a new purchase I made through Sweetwater, the ProMark Transport Deluxe Stick Bag. My trusty bottom-of-the-line DW stick bag finally needed replacing, so I got this middle-of-the-road bag because I liked the way it looked and it seemed like the hooks for hanging it on the floor tom would work for my set. I was surprised to find a glaring error in the design and am not very happy with it at all. Check it out and let me know what you think of the review as well as the bag itself. Kelly, there really are no good stick bags these days. I bought the Sabian self standing bag a few years a ago ($34). It stays in my studio and falls over often! I’m using for gigs my 45 years old leather stick bag ($16 new!) that I got a new zipper and tom hangers put on by a shoe cobbler in town for $50! But it was worth because a new leather stick bag is $200 - $300! I have a 20+ year old Vic Firth bag that fits a good amount of sticks and has a cool cloth bag design! But it’s no longer available! I was afraid of this. I really want something a step above the DW bag I've been using for the past 20 years but never in a million years would I spend $200 for a good bag. Oh well, I guess it's back to what works. Glad you held onto your leather bag! Thanks for the input Earl!!!

I've had this bag for almost a year and I love it! At first, I ran into the same issue that you encountered, with the handles getting in the way when I hung the bag on my floor tom. After about a month of storing the bag loaded with the handles forced down, they have become more flexible but still carry the same strength. Now after owning this bag for about a year, the handles almost have a solid hinge feel, and I have not seen any effects of wear on them.
That's great to hear, Ben! I probably should have held onto it then because, yeah, I loved everything else about that bag. I settled on the Tama PowerPad bag and it's comparable to the ProMark bag. Thanks for commenting and for watching the video!
I always enjoy your commentaries Kelly. I here you on how expensive everything is the main reason I only have one drumkit. I've had the same stick bag for 20 years but it kinda sucks always knocking it off the floor tom by accident so I just use a clip on stick holder when playing live. Those kick pedals are crazy expensive, one benefit of not using my feet to drum lol!
Ha, I love how you always see the bright side of things Jeff! How you like those stick clips? I usually just leave my sticks on the snare when I'm done :P but I like the bag on the floor tom so I can get mallets or brushes or whatever when I need them. I don't think something like that should be $100, 200, 300! Insanity.
Informative review Kelly. I guess I’m just too old school because I’ve never used a stick bag in my life. lol! When I played out I put an extra stick or two on top of my kick drum if I needed them.

Is the issue with the handles still a problem when only attaching the bag to a single floor tom? Curious if having a bit more slack on the bungees will leave the bag sitting low enough that the handles won't sit above the rim.
I love this suggestion and I am going to put it to the test. In fact, maybe with it filled to capacity, the weight of the sticks and whatnot might bring it down just enough. I'll let you know what happens. Maybe I'll even do a video of it. If so, I'll definitely be giving you a shout out lol!
I bought a DW 5000 Accelerator pair in the mid '90s. It was $350. Back then, that seemed like an incredible amount of money, but then again, there weren't nearly as many quality choices back then.
By pair, does that mean you are rolling with two bass drums? If so, that is awesome!
I was (and still am) a huge 5000 series fan. The 9000s are nice, but there's nothing like that red trim and it really is the goldilocks of pdeals/hardware. Not too thin, not too thick, just right. Thanks for the interesting comment, Danny!
@@KMKanDrum , I could roll with them, back in the day. I was in a bad ambulance wreck that ended my paramedic career. The nerve damage in my back slowed my left leg down. I can still a foot, foot, hand, hand fill that works. Sometimes I can do a quick 16th triplet, doing two quick notes with a foot pivot on the right, followed by one note on the left. Not something you can use often, but it's fun to do, and sounds pretty cool.

@@KMKanDrum , awesome! Actually, it took 20 years but I finally found a surgeon who diagnosed and repaired my spine about a year and a half ago. I had pretty much quit playing, but now I'm able to play again. Then the drummer at my church left, opening a spot for me. Thanks for the giveaway. That looks like a pretty sweet bag!

hello, can a tablet fit the bag? around the size of a 8.5x11 bond paper?
I haven’t actually tried it but I would say the pockets are too small to fit a tablet.
