One thing I learned a long time ago, always, always, always have 20-60$ tucked away inside your stick bag for emergencies. This has saved me when the van ran out of gas, and of coarse everyone was flat broke!!! My emergency $$$ got us home and I was a hero for the night!!!!
1. Drum Sticks (Vic Firth Classic American Hickory 5A, ProMark Millennium 2 5C, Hot Rods) 2. Tuning Key (Standard DW Key) That's honestly it I don't take a whole lot lol even though I should.
Things required by a drummer while going for a gig and during gig Sticks in a stick bag Napkin Waterbottel Mobile holder Wallet holder Medicine Drum key Hardware like extra tention rod, lug, a beater, device kwik, moon gel, duct tape ,damper sponge, screw driver ,blade allen key (alanki) extra snare head, cymbal felts, notation stand
The last couple of years, I've found myself getting a lot of work in the musical theater scene. Since most pit orchestras get really crowded really fast, I have begun to utilize my Roland SPDSX for most of the large percussion instruments so my stick bag is usually just my Pro Mark 747W sticks and a pair of yarn mallets.
@@TimBuell Absolutely! It's saved me so much time, money, and space! Especially when it comes to the external triggers you can hook up on the back. I also have 4 BT-1's that I place conveniently around the kit.
1. Screw-top, reusable water bottle. I don't like using single use plastic and cups tend to spill. 2. Small screw drivers to repair hardware. Helps especially with thrones and kick pedals. 3. A t-shirt to change into after I sweat through one on stage.
Those are SOLID choices Tyler. Yeah, I have a leathermen that I should've mentioned that has screw drivers, pliers, knife, and bottle opener. Everything you need and I carry it in my pocket ALWAYS.
1. Sticks, Rods, Brushes & Mallets 2. 3 Drumkeys for drum sets and marching snares 3. Slapklatz and Meinl Cymbal Dampener 4. A pencil (if you want to change anything in ur notes) 5. An extra pair of ear protecors And thats it 😂😂
Thanks man! I honestly don't even know, I bought it at a discount store for like $3 haha. REI would def have them. Amazon. Where ever. Definitely worth having around when you need it.
it's funny because I carry 3 different pairs of brushes in my stickbag (I really only play two of them). I have a pair of those LIVE WIRES but I don't like the sound they give me.
I totally hear that. Most of what I use those brushes for are trainbeat type grooves, when I play jazz I typically go with a brush that is a bit lighter than the live wire pair.

I love having a 6” triangle in my bag. Sounds great played on a bossa for a nice variation.
I need to add a triangle to my collection. I don't own one, not even in my studio - always a nice thing to have sitting around.

Hey Tim,
You mentioned coming off the road a few times. What made you decide to stay in town, rather than tour full time?
How long do you have?! haha. You can actually watch this video here: ua-cam.com/video/7lcltWvkLH0/v-deo.html and that gives a lot more context
