  • A good-looking bike that is a nice alternative to the classic look of the Bonneville. New Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster 2021 Review.
The Triumph Speedmaster is aimed at being a bit more brutish than the Bonneville while retaining the good looks. TRIUMPH has updated the range of bikes the British brand is probably most famous for, as almost all the Bonneville motorcycles receive updates for 2021.
For this year, the Speedmaster has received extensive engine updates which have reduced the bike’s internal inertia for a claimed smoother and fuller delivery. Torque is 78lb-ft at 3,850rpm, and the 1200cc Euro5 engine is claimed to produce over 90% of its torque up to 5,750rpm. Power is now 77bhp, up from 76bhp.

Anyone else confused between all the similar variants of these Triumphs?
    No, just me then.

What's to be confused about? It's the same motor, in different body styles with different tunes.

Got one, love it. Put mid-controls on it as traded in VFR. Done a few days camping in Dorset with it. Handles the twisted really well. Very stylish and gets lots of attention from all ages

I have one arriving next week so, obviously, I'm a fan hehe.
Your review is spot on, though. It's like the Bobber, Thruxton and T120, but slightly skewed toward a more 'gentlemanly' laid-back ride.
Some would say 'grandfatherly', but anyone who rides it knows it can put a smile on your face in the twisties as well as when burbling along in it's perhaps more natural laid-back stylee.
They are all great bikes, even the T100 (which I have now) is lovely and does exactly what it is supposed to very well.
For me, though, the Speedmaster has arrived at the perfect compromise.
It's the cruiser I've always fancied whilst still having refined class and competent performance.

Great bike my 3rd Triumph possibly the best. Triumph did a great job with the Speedmaster Bonneville

Great review. Straight to the point. Thanks. Just had a test ride on one after selling my HD 1200 custom. It’s smoother, quicker and just seems to be more fun to ride. Now I just need to decide if I want to buy it. I’m looking at all the reviews I can find.

Good review, stylish bike, but I am more interested in the new Sportster 1250 S than any Bonneville. And up to now I hadn't considered a Harley.

You can still have a good time on it? Really? Thanks for the review, now I know Triumph had a better cruiser, the Thunderbird, which, unfortunately is not on the lineup anymore. That I would have bought. That one I have dreamt of. I actually might still buy, even a second hand one. I think it will be worth the money.

My 2021 speedmaster has 47mm forks not 41mm as shown here, probably explains why the OEM touring screen I bought had the wrong size fork clamps.

If only Triumph would reconsider the tin-toy pinch-welded tank; it may cut production costs but - egad, it sure cheapens the aesthetics as well.

Thanks for an in depth review,
Having just sold my 17 plate CB1100RS regrettably due to an ongoing left hip problem,
Do you think it would be a lot easier for me to swing a leg over a Speedmaster?
Love the styling & cant see myself giving up biking yet!

I don't have one yet but if you look at Exeter Riders review, he's 5ft 8in and he can stand flat footed with some clearance. It's a very low bike which is one of the reasons I want one 👍🏻

It’s a nice bike but way too small for North America. I barely see these anywhere where I live in western Canada. Triumph barely has anything for 2 up touring anymore. Once my Trophy is done it’s off to Honda or Indian 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ maybe BMW Grand America

This bike seems to have good torque. I have a very steep (almost 45 degree) driveway, about 40 meters. I am wondering if I can ride up? From the bottom at standstill, at first gear, will i be able to slowly ride up the driveway, safely at very very slow speeds, less than , say 5 kilometers per hour? I don't want to ride fast up like a plane taking off. Just a slow slow slow climb, safely, without engine stalling or I needing to go up the RPM?

The new speedmaster is wonderful, the problem that it has a very small pond with a maximum autonomy of 240 km, that is a point against it.

  • @jaford2

Silly question, maybe, but how do you lube the chain? Do you need to jack it up on a bike stand - isn't it a bit heavy for that?
(For context, I have a Ducati Monster 821 which I lube by putting up on a stand, plus a Yamaha Dragstar which is shaft-driven so don't need to... I'm looking to consolidate to the Speedmaster, but a bit apprehensive about getting the rear wheel up onto a 'swingarm spool' on my own.)

    • @mihaimihai9254
      @mihaimihai9254 2 роки тому +1

Hi! I lube my Honda's chain without jacking it up on bile stand... I don't even have a central stand on my bike. I simply lube what I'm able to see, I push the bike and than I lube the chain's parts which I see unlubed! A central stand would be great, definitely, but I didn't want to make my bike heavier. I wish you only nice and safe trips!

I do use a paddock stand with swingarm bobbins on my '23. While I have jacked it up by myself, not gonna lie it feels somewhat scary so I much prefer to have someone spot me.
