    That was a fun cinematic intro! It felt like I was a flying squirrel climbing a tree and then (either falling backwards) or doing elaborate acrobatics, while basking in the sunshine, to an adjacent tree. Very fun! I am sitting at home in February/March-like murky dirty melting freezing snow scenery so I appreciate these colourful scenes so I absolutely understand about the winter blahs. I love the autumnal colours and hidden placket of your Mimi G. dress. Very chic and it looks really comfortable. It is really annoying to unknowingly buy temperamental fabric but those beautiful French seams always save the day. Cannot wait to see a jumpsuit in that vibrant blue fabric. Great for dopamine dressing in winter!

      Hello Milly... I enjoyed making that video and loved its colors and got a different perspective from the experience it gave you😀
      Yes, the hidden placket is a lovely design feature, and it added a chic and classic look to the dress.
      I love buying quality fabric, but it's good to have the experience of sewing with different types.
      Thanks for watching and sharing your comments. I enjoyed reading your views and am excited about the next project 😀

    Love, love, love the fabric and pattern you selected for this dress! It’s fits beautifully as well. For the bulk at the hem/double placket, if you use self made bias tape it might give a bit less bulk, rather than folding up twice. Would love to pass on a tip I recently learned. When you have a tie belt that goes all the way around the waist, insert elastic at the back portion only, and secure. Then secure the ties only at the side seam, then thread through your channel. This gives nice and uniform gathering at the back and no need to adjust so it looks even.

      I am happy you loved it. Yes, yes, and yes to your suggestion on belting. It will be used🙂

    Hi Karen, I also made a dress with this fabric and it was such a hassle. It frayed terribly, it was difficult to find the straight of grain and the fabric snagged with the slightest manipulation. I made it through my garment and it turned out ok but it was a journey. Thanks for sharing your make.

    Beautiful dress -- love the Fall colors. Exactly what I was looking for this morning to wear to church. Love, love the fabric. Sewing -- excellent job. What is the saying, " we are our worst critics," or something like that. Your sewing is fabulous and your fabric selection is on point. Keep up the "great" job.

      I appreciate your kind words of encouragement. Yes, I am critical of my work, always looking for opportunities to improve and often forgetting to acknowledge the outcome. Thank you for the reminder. Thanks for your time, and I am happy you love the dress and the fabric 🙂

    Hello. Gorgeous dress,,, as you do! Love the style. You’re sewing is amazing and the blouse you are wearing looks like the high end business casual brand Foxcroft, I think it’s called. They are such great business suit shirts. Pricey for some, others maybe not but are great quality. You’re the best on inside finishing too. Take care, Nancy from IN

    The dress is beautiful - so graceful on you, and the colors are lovely! I think the length is fine but if you are not used to it, it might seem strange at first. Also enjoyed the beautiful tree photos at the beginning of the video. One thing I've found is that I need brighter colors to wear in the winter other than the overwhelming black, gray, navy and brown hues so common in the stores this time of year - it's already brown and gray outside and I need to lift my spirits! Therefore, I'm glad I can sew myself some things in cheery colors. However, the lighting in my sewing room is just not great once the sun goes down early and I am trying to figure out what to do about that, since winter is a good time for sewing b/c I can't garden!

      Hi Mary... I totally can understand your feelings relating to the colors and mood. I love bright colors and try to motivate myself during this period. I appreciate you watching, and I am so appreciative of your thoughts on the into.
      I love nature and find beauty in it all.
      Happy sewing, and thanks again for your encouragement 😊

    Viscose (rayon) can be difficult to sew with, especially a challis weave. However, it is comfortable to wear and more breathable than polyester. The color is great for you and would be lovely for Thanksgiving! I’ve also found I have to size up for the big 4 as there is not much positive ease in the pattern.

    • @cookeka
      @cookeka  Рік тому

      Hi Cynthia, I appreciate the information. One learns something new every day. I love the color way but definitely might think twice about purchasing again. Yes, the big four presents issues for some, but I have been okay with them while embracing more Indi patterns.

    Love the dress, Karon, and I think the length looks great on you. I disagree that that placket hem is too bulky - I think the bulk helps the dress lay correctly at the hemline. You might want to consider self lining the bottom of the sleeve, so that when it is turned up, you don’t see the back side of the fabric. As always, your finishing details are beautiful.

    • @cookeka
      @cookeka  Рік тому

      Yes, I agree the sleeves need self lining to create a uniform finish. I guess the bulk has a purpose, but depending on the fabric, it can seem bulky.
      Thanks for watching and sharing your knowledge as always 🙂

      Silky types, namely Chalis, charmuese, or chambray. The back of the pattern has fabric recommendations as well.
