Which would you pick ? Solaris 50 or Beneteau First 53 ?
This is currently the exact dilemma I have. Very similar in approach. I have yet to see either or sail them in person. What I can gather so far is that perhaps the Solaris is at a higher quality craftsmanship, while the First 53 may offer a touch more performance? Not sure. The Solaris also seems to offer much more customization if you like that sort of thing.
Is this yacht good for ocean crusing?

You can go to ocean but it's going to be very unpleasant in bad weather. You can modify it if you have the money.

Not sure how good this would be for long distance cruising, the aft cabin area on deck looks awfully exposed.

It's a prrformance boat for people who like sailing, not for cruisers who want to plunk their ass down on a seat in a protected cockpit 5 minutes after leaving.
@@donaldvanvliet9039 What's the point of having a nice sailing boat, if you don't go anywhere? It's like having an expensive motor home and just driving it around the city.
NeonsStyle who says they don't go anywhere? Look at the videos of the sailing frenchman...he's racing a boat with dual aft helms like this around the world...last vid he was in the southern ocean...maybe this type if sailing is not for you...but plenty of people like it and are doing it.
The solaris by the way is a boat designed for the med...people work all year and in their free time they cruise and race in the med (italy, greece, france) on a boat like this...sounds better than driving a expensive motorhome round the city if you ask me.
@@donaldvanvliet9039 I prefer cruising! Racing has no interest. It's like football. Some team wins this year, another the year after. Over all it makes no difference. Though I do get the thrill of actually doing it.

Ask the owners. I have and all I spoke to are extremely satisfied. I have ordered one too.
Also, there are multiple options to add if you wish.

The thing I don’t like about Solaris, they’re interiors are so plain. New Oceanis, Elan, & Oyster yachts have far more interior character.
