I knew..... lol....ketchup 😂 that grill is awesome! My only worry is the very thin wire and how long those will last under high heat for a long period of time. 🤔 I guess only more uses will show how well it lasts. And your right....a black bag would be better 👍🏼 great review Andy! My only complaint is that it needed more bacon 😂😂

G'day Andy. I guess as a kiwi, I should be supporting a Nz made product but can't. Down here we call that main support rod conduit pipe. Very light, but over a period of time near extreme heat it can lose its ability to support even your pet spider. You were lucky pushing that into soft ground. ..try hitting a rock or tree root as you push it down, and you find it folding in half. I think the best I've ever seen was the cast steel setup that Simon a bloke in the woods reviewed a week or 3 back. Yep a bit heavier, but a long way more durable. Love your channel. Take care.

I like it. An additional arm for pot-hanging would be nice. Also, a folding grill would be a selling point for me, to make it easier to fit in a day pack. I like that the wire rack sits under the frame so that sausages are less likely to roll off. Having an potion of a second leg for enough stability for a Dutch oven would be something I would consider too. I have the TJM metalworks fire anchor (like Simon’s) and I am super happy with it, it will most likely live longer than me. But if this folded down smaller and had a pot hanger (or I’d make one for it) it would be on my wish list for it’s light weight advantage. Like it.

Looks like a good product, I can see the general comments are about the grill mesh looking too thin, testing with extreme heat and a couple of bricks as mentioned below will evidence the strength. Only thing I would say is to be able to extend the height so have a second pole that slots over the initial one. Also just have a pole with a hook in so you can hang a pot over the fire rather than use the grill all the time. its a lightweight addition but makes the kit complete for cooking and boiling at the same time ???? and Yes more woodland colour for the bag ;-)

I love the anchor, perfect for beach cooking, handle, look, I would prefer something that does not hold heat, wood on a magnetic coupling maybe?, bag colour is shocking lol and I don't like the material, would prefer a cotton sack that I can wash if needs be. Hey. As others have stated re the mesh gauge it would be good for the mesh either to be detachable and so therefore adaptable to taking other sizes of mesh plate.. or have two other arms - one for small pot- cup and and other with a hook for a zebra /Billie can.. Not bothered about the colour of the bag, something that is robust, heat resistant and easy to clean after a trip would be grand.. As for the ground spike.. would be good to have an adjustable one - height wise... for those using portable mesh fire pits... I like it a lot... be great for Wild camping on motorcycles .... Looking forward to testing it out.... don't be too long though... somebody or some other company may beat you to it.... Good fortune ....

    • @petersmith6974
      @petersmith6974 4 роки тому

Zalderan Nathan Id say that somewhere along the lines of the thickness you would find a good quality BBQ would use for a grill. Something that will not warp or burn out quickly. What you have used right now as a prototype is a bit thin and think in time it will burn out in a not so long a period of time if used often.

The mesh did not break it only deformed. I will be increasing the mesh to 1mm which does not seem like much but if you double the thickness you 4x the strength so increase the thickness by 25% is twice the strength. The reason I am increasing to 1mm is I have just discovered from having a closer look with everyone's comments the .8 mesh can work harden and break where it is spot welded on to the round bar. Thanks again for your comment Subscribe and I will email you the video.

Like most people have said the mesh doesn't look that robust and can't be easily replaced.
Maybe it would be better if the mesh sat on top of the frame and had rolled edges so it slid over it.

@@zalderan6043 Nice idea for the ground anchor and the adjustment. Comments seem to be concerned about mesh sizing. Have you tried say 1.6mm stright bar with only one crossing piece in the centre should be around the same weight but will look more robust. Might even be cheaper to build as your not paying for manufacturing of the mesh?

    • @zalderan6043

@@JEll123 Thanks for your comments mesh is actually cheaper as it is manufactured by machine rather than by hand. I did some testing today Ill be putting the videos up soon I hung a 10-liter water container under the grill and filled it up to see when it would break. then I tested the mesh putting it in a fire with a brick on it for 3 hours and tried to get it red hot. @ Nath:
A few unsolicited pro tips, they might sound brash but are not meant to be:
Even (or especially ) as a start up you need to appear decicive and reliable. It helps to give an adress on your internet site, wether in NoT or NZ. The currency should be unequivocal and matching to your place of business.
Offering products without any warranty, guarantee or liability leaves the impression you do not believe or trust your own work.
Overlooked spell checking might indicate a sloppy attitude in general.
Check that your product does not give the idea of you being a copycat, if something similar already exists you need to state your USP very clearly.
Define the longevity, uses and audience you want to reach and those you do not. You will lose some but win a better standing.
As you try to venture into a field where lots of eastern produced minor quality tat is sold you do not want to fall into that category by accident.
You seem to have a very nice idea with a somewhat ambigious strategy right now, sharpening your profile will improve this.
Good luck with your start up!

Not a bad looking piece of gear, Andy. The only thing that caused me to pause was the gauge of wire used on the grate. I think I would go bigger and space them further apart, from what I can tell on screen. I had a small campfire grate with a fine grate and it warped and sank so quick, I tossed it and got a better one I still use.
Does it seem heavy duty enough (the main rod and attachment to it in general) to hold up a cast iron skillet or to hang a small Dutch oven from? I have ideas... 🤔 Thanks for the look, buddy. Good to see you get out.
