hi lady, if you need to brake things up use dexpan it breaks up concrete. Let it set for 24 hours, it brakes within 2 hours and it's so much easier than a jack hammer. I done it on my stairs and oh my God I'm in love with this stuff. Looks very nice.

Oh my goodness. I know it's not inexpensive to rent a machine compactor but honestly, that would have saved your husband a lot of time and hard labor, especially after the unfortunate "surprise" of the concrete sections underneath the deck he tore up! The stone you found on Marketplace is gorgeous, and such a deal too. It turned our beautifully, your husband took his time to match edges up and had a nice tight pattern of the stone, which will help it stay together in the future. You might want to consider some kind of stake-in edging around the perimeter of the patio to help keep it in place in the future. It turned out beautifully and you won't have to worry about falling through an area of rotted wood any more!

This turned out so beautiful! If you two don't slow down, there won't be any projects left for your teenagers to help out with, except to mow the lawn! We built our son's a 2-story fort with a trap entry door and a zip line off the upstairs balcony. One requested a moat. Ha!

We live on an extremely extremely tight budget. My hubby is on oxygen and we're trying to make do with a window unit and a few fans.

I'm like you guys, I'm not a fan of large wooden decks or huge areas of concrete. The organic and natural look are very peaceful and can make a good eco friendly environment. I built a pergola and a low fence made from pallets and I used pea gravel and broken sidewalk chunks i got from the street construction my city did. It has hanging plants and climbing ones too. Chimney fire place and seating.

I love outdoor seating! we have 2 firepits as well, a large one that is in the middle of a circle of cedar trees in our backyard and a much smaller one in our front yard on our patio, it is metal but we actually use that one alot more than the large one now. thanks for sharing! xoxo

It came out beautiful!!!! I love. So serene! Is mowing the grass hard to do in that section? Also I wasn't sure why you had to remove the concrete under the dirt Was it because you had to dig lower to add I'm these flag stone pieces so it was level?

We are about to do something almost exactly the same with pea gravel. But has anyone used Vuba resin? It's like a laqer that seals the gravel.
