Hey @silverpicker i really appreciate your videos. Im learning a lot. Can you please do a video about coin grabs from Etsy. I think we all would like to know how legit those sellers are.
YEARS ago, I bought a couple of bags of 100 ancient Roman coins, and maybe a couple of bags of 100 ancient Greek coins. The Romans were @ $1 each, and the Greeks were @ $2 each. Those were fun to pick through, especially since the one of the Roman bags had an extremely rare coin of Empress Galla Placidia. The Greek lots got me started on my Seleukid bronze coin collection, as most were from that area. There were also a couple of P. Q. Varus bronze coins in the Greek lots (not terribly rare, but he is infamous for losing multiple entire legions of troops at the battle of the Teutenburg Forest, and effectively halted Rome's eastward expansion). I definitely got my money's worth out of those bags. There were other interesting coins, but these were the ones that I still immediately think of when I think of those lots.
In Belgium bulk world coins cost €3-4/Kg (about $1,5-2 a pound). Sometimes it's a little more, especially if there are some older/ silver coins in it, but still. This is incredibly expensive! I have bought bulk coins with 18th century stuff and 19th century silver in it for €8/3Kg (of course that is not the standard price, but a just good deal).
I was in the Navy for over 20 year and collected lots of world coins. But I’ve never really checked them out put them in two by twos and put them in a box. Maybe I should check them out. Service dates 77-98.
Fellow Navy veteran here, I got coins from Singapore, United Arab Emirites, Thailand, Bahrain, and a TON of Euros. We went to Marseille, France and I came back with over $150 in Euro coins. Any Euros I found around the ship I kept, it was insane. I remember my pockets were packed with Euros walking around France
if you are into world coins learning to read cyrilic i.e. russian letters.... is really handy and simple! it lets me diagnose bulgaria and all of the other cyrillic alphabet countries like greece, mongolia, khazakstan and more
Hey, Silverpicker! Those 1-piso coins you got are definitives yet different: in mint year and in reverse variety. The year 1993--BSP's founding year--that you saw was the reverse of the 1-piso New Design Series coin (penultimate to our current New Generation Currency) minted from 1995-2017. Information about the reverse varieties is available on that coin's Numista page.
The Philipines coins showed that 1993 seal as that was the last constituion to that point from about 1994 through to 2015 before the New Generation coinage. Its the year of a banking act.
The 1 piso coin from the Philippines the reverse side 1993 marking its said that 1993 permits the making of this Bsp series of this coin Its starts making of this coin from 1995 to 2017
Cool max like always ... fun fact all brittish commonwealth countries all had the same coin design when they had decimal currency Australia NZ Fiji ect
The 1993 at the back is, like the year of the coin was first minted but they minted the coin on 1995 - 2017 , the year 2005 and 2008 are money , 2005 cost = $ 10.00 2008 cost = $ 5.00
The best way to get someone into the hobby was how I got into it. I got a good bulk world coin lot off of ebay or something from my grandfather. it had 92 countries, all kinds of denominations, a little silver from japan and Britain, and coins that dated all the way back to the 1850s. all kinds of bimetallic coins, different shapes, different sizes. it even had some random American change, lol. But yeah, that is probably the best way to do it. sitting on the carpet in my living room and sorting these coins by country and pulling out cool old large british pennies or soviet coinage or finding obscure countries like slovakia. it was so fun not knowing what I was going to pull out next
I wish there were more coin shops in St Louis. Only 1 near where I live and all the others in the St Louis area are just pawn shops and stuff and NONE of them sell the coins they get because they collect them. Frustrating.
I'm not too familiar with a lot of world coins myself as I collect old coins, but I very much doubt there is anyone still using silver these days in their coinage.
I bought one a few months ago. No duplicates but I was disappointed to get 11 recent Canadian cents. At least they were different years. The rest of the bag was decent in variety. I agree it is overpriced with lower quality coins.
9:08 They're from the UK, not England. They aren't identical. The one on the left is the oldest and far more attractive than the rest. They are also copper, worth more than a penny and newer ones are plated rubbish.

im in the Philippines now and the 2010 and 2013 is the year when it was made and the 1993 is the year when that coin design was planed and all the 1 piso coins are 1993 in reverse
With the canadian coins they could have had three different designs KG7, Queen Elizabeth and the Bird cent. That would have been interesting and shown a little bit of history but no, all the same.

Sorry to say this silverpicker, but that grab bag sucked big time.... the coins were really interesting. I liked the Mexican 20 centavos. But the only problem is that there were too many doubles. When theres a coin that is the same but the monarch is different ( for example the ones from UK) I call it a pass because its showing a modified version. It's like you take 2 Canadian nickels, one is a 30s coin and one in the late 50s, it's the same reverse but the monarch or obverse is different. Getting a 1 cent from Canada is awesome and worth it cause they dont make them anymore but when you have 7 in a grab bag that's ridiculous. Especially that you only get 50 coins... its almost ⅕ of the grab bag. I do hope that you leave a negative feedback to the seller. I dont think that price is a concern if you have 50 different countries, but having multiple doubles, it makes the grab bag over priced or even not worth buying. But the video was really entertaining and I got to see more about the app coinoscope, I've had that app for a while but I only used it once to see how accurate it was. I used a normal nickel from Canada. How I got the app, I saw it in one of your older videos. I actually got the one from Bulgaria right. Sorry that my message was so long.
