Definitely affects me. I always play in offline mode. When there is an update, I wait until my mods have been fixed by the various creators and no terrible bugs have been reported such as the one that ruined a bunch of my Sims' faces and prompted me to always play this way. This is very upsetting news.

I haven't updated since January... I want to play without worrying about everything I need to get fixed. I was fine not being able to download newer things from the gallery and whatever else comes with not updating.
CurseForge wasn't working correctly for me. I guess it's time to spend hours (even with a document with links to all my installed mods, it still takes me forever) getting everything playable again, haha. :/
Updated and enabled script mod and and cc… never told me to restart after I pressed apply changes, so I restarted either way and played the game…
Found out every one of my sims, even npcs were bald and naked… I wanted to quit that day 😊
As far as Tech support, they should only have to support up to date gaming.. you choose to loose tech support if you have not updated.. its simple.. there is no cause to force someone to update, they just need to understand they will not get tech support unless they do..

Seems like another way to make the game like a mobile app. Crappy mobile games usually require you to update so they can shove microtransactions in your face. I see a very bleak future for the Sims.
Will these mandatory updates be constant? Also the ea app isn't stable. I went in today. My game thought that it was supposed to be using origin. And i don't like to update for every patch if im not installing a new pack or content because that's how i avoid major bugs

Ever since The Sims: Medieval's last major update that had made it unplayable for many years afterwards, I have been a little wary of updates. I mean now it's a playable game again the last I know of, but I never fully understood what happened.
This was back when you only needed an Origin account logged into for installing the game but not for playing the game. I dearly miss those days. (At least I think I've had to have my Origin/EA Account since the Medieval time)
Honestly, I really wish EA would just leave the Sims 4 alone and just work on Sims five or whatever they wanna call it . I want to be able to play my game in peace without all these fake updates that don’t actually fix anything but just break more shit, not to mention the pressure and they are now putting on all the modders.. If I can’t play this game with mods, then there is literally no point in playing it….
Thanks for having a clear communication on this. I don’t update right away. Especially if I am in the middle of a long build or some sort of mod dependant thing and I want time to assess the situation and see how damaging the latest patch has been. I just want time to make decisions and was unhappy the game auto-updated on me while I was online checking mods and the EA app just opened and updated. i did not open it

My greatest fear! I hadn't updated my game since the patch for For Rent. I used to not be able to play offline. But I found a way to make the app think I was playing offline but still be connected most of the gallery. I like playing my game without the new glitches and shopping cart. I kept it that way because only small things seemed broken in my game. I didnt want to see my game achieve a new level of being broken. Plus I had mods for my current save. It seems like I'll never get to gave a legacy save due to all the fixes and updates and glitches.
So when someone makes a brake for a year and is not informed be social media, this person could not play anymore?
I believe the person would just have to update to the latest version then but I could be wrong.

This is so annoying! I had so many bugs after the update before for rent. I really hated updating and then being stuck with an almost unplayable game.
I've had it start offline and tried to watch what the patches do before i updated since then.
Ea-Cade on the American forum said it was a one time thing.
I'm not affected. But yeah, I am one of those people who's not updating right away and waiting for your video and checking Twitter beforehand in case any major bugs have been introduced 😂

I am up to date so don't worry too much. On the official forum it's been confirmed that this is a one time thing (even if I have been forced to update before?) I think one of the main reason is the shopping cart and the login event. The event should start for player at June 13th at the very latest, so after this forced date.

I Hate the updates with a passion, yes i have cc in my gane, love cc But Everytime there's an update it messes with my game. I had to delete an entire series i was doing, save first and start where i left off because the game just would not load.
Well. I worked out the issue by deleting my current save.

It dosen't affect me. Even when I had it set to offline mode the app still wouldn't let me play the game unless I had updated it.

I think this is a one time thing and you will be able to play offline again after this app update. Maplesimmer posted the question to EA and that's what they replied.
Edited to say they just confirmed this on Sims Direct discord.
