- Russian Foreign Minister warned of a direct confrontation between Russia and the world's biggest nuclear powers as the West continues to support Ukraine. Sweden’s Foreign Minister said the EU’s next sanctions should target the shadow fleet of tankers moving Russian oil to circumvent sanctions. Meanwhile, Vyacheslav Volodin, the speaker of Russian state Duma, said Russia now has grounds to confiscate Western assets. Polish President Andrzej Duda said Warsaw is ready to host nuclear arms if NATO decides to deploy the weapons. Russia warned it would take "necessary" measures to "ensure its security" if Poland hosted nuclear weapons. Watch the video to find out more.

Sanctioning tankers gas / oil will put worse case on all of us because all products and services will go up also. The Swedish foreign minister would do well to retract his statement that Kiev is fighting for other western democracies. Ukraine is not a democracy, quoting a propaganda lie by a leader in Kiev facing his final days is not a good start to being a new NATO member and Sweden is in no position to comment on what other European countries should or should not do. This is outside the remit of his role and he should be sacked.
Duda has been very quiet while Tusk has been moving Polish troops around to no purpose. He chose yesterday to repeat what was said by him in Washington and the fact that he seems unaware of the fact that Warsaw has hosted US B-61 'dial a yield' air bombs which only the USA can operate makes him look foolish. The UK and Turkey also once stored these relics but told the Pentagon to remove them to Los Alamos, not least because they were leaking and dangerous.
Peskov is often excitable but here is correct and calm that seizure of funds with a view to using them to aid another state is illegal. Switzerland warned 2 weeks ago that such measures would not be allowed to disrupt its role in world banking and stated that even making such threats could collapse financial systems.
To even interrupt aspects of any main ones could be the financial equivalent of a ship blocking the Suez Canal. It took months for trading to recover and while Russia is not likely to be disrupted such as Germany absolutely cannot afford to be. Its supply chain economy is already on life support with internal inflation and lay-offs increasing it needs to be able to choose from several currencies to continue back door buying of Russian gas/oil products.
Scholz and Baerbock could even be ousted.
Russia could easily de-escalate the situation by stopping it's war and going home.
