- Do you want to clean your trumpet? Ever wonder how to clean a trumpet? I mean, what's the best way to clean a trumpet? I don't know. I do however clean my trumpet. This is how I clean my trumpet. Keyword keywords keywords. For more exiting adventures visit: www.blackwellstrumpetbasics.com/
I could hang out with this dude
appreciate it
I know. I have a friend who talks/acts like him, and he’s totally cool to hang out with. I hate it when people are cooler than I am. Great video.
I did this cause I haven’t clean my trumpet in 3 years and I was surprised how much green came out
My son has a trumpet since the beginning of the school year and half way through and it sounds weird. He hasn’t been cleaning it. He plays daily and I’m scared to clean it. Now I can show him the video and he can learn himself. Hank you!
What is the deal with all the naysayers here? I am a professional instrument repair person and also part-time professional trumpet player. This is a great way to do a quick clean on your horn. There have been many afternoons where I did this before a gig because I didn’t have time to do the whole thing. Of course every three or four months you should take it apart and use a snake. Most of the professionals I know bring their horns to me once a year for a dip in the ultrasonic cleaner and minor dent work. With this method no water touches the springs or any of the pads so there is no way to harm the horn. Just make sure to keep the valve slides from popping out when you blow the water through the horn. James - Love your videos - thanks for the tips - happy strong chops!
Hi Michelle, thank you for your comment - this is definitely my most despised video (so far) :-) This technique was taught to me by a very well-respected horn technician in TX and it's great to hear the ideas affirmed by another professional (although truth be told I don't clean my horn enough with the snake). Thanks for watching and take care! James
Wow dude! It’ s really worked clearly.
Thank You very much
what about the springs in the valves? one video i watched said that that could ruin the springs
I haven't had any issues and I've been doing this for 10 years or so. Clean at your own risk! :-D
It is cool and works
I can’t use mine now
It worked :)
Wouldn’t that compromise the pads and springs?
nope! the water passes through the tubing that the air flows through (which has plenty of moisture, btw. plus, the trumpet condenses the moisture which is why we need water keys). I have done this for years and never had a single issue - this was taught to me by a reputable horn technician and confirmed by others in the field. thanks for watching!
this guy so chill
A good way to clean your trumpet from Corona
if you want to try it just take out the valves so u dont ruin the springs
The valves need to stay in for this to work. You won't hurt the springs.
👍🎺
Thanx :D
very welcome :)
Do you perform this on a daily basis (each time after playing) or from time to time?
It probably isn't necessary dude
You look like McGregor
I'm sorry this almost broke my trumpet🎺
What about dirt that sticks to the inside of the pipe?
Ed Carew this usually works
Yeah this will get most of it out. If it's really caked in there you can run a "snake" through it amzn.to/2xro1bs
Guys don’t actually do this...it clean it but it also damage it
RIP your felt pads
no water on the felts!
@@BwellsTrumpetBasics no water on the felts ...and how is that possible, can't be .Lots of cleaning videos some of you don't know what your doing .
@@lenzotrumpet the water travels through the same path of the air. The felts are not in the pipes / tunnels that the air travels through while playing. Besides, the moisture that passes through the horn during normal playing condenses inside the pipes anyways - that's why there are water keys - and this moisture does not accumulate on the felts. At any rate, do what you think is best!
Wut
This can be a meme tbf
So then what about drying it? Not an issue?
Not really an issue. You might want to pat down the lacquer with a soft cloth but extra moisture in the pipe isn't going to hurt anything. If there is some extra water left in there you can play normally for a few minutes and then empty the spit valves.
drying the exterior isn't necessary either it's just to prevent water spots
The thumbnail tho
One of the best ;)
the best way to thoroughly clean your trumpet is to bath it and use a snake and other brushes there are many good videos on it, bathing your trumpet is best because it unlodges pieces that are really stuck you just have to be careful
Agreed, that is most thorough. This is good for getting the sandwiches out before a gig :-)
This will ruin your trumpet don’t do this
Why
No. Just no. Don't listen to this guy.
Aaron White why
TheShmit Plays because the spring aren’t as posed to get wet in the valves
