@@cathleenmoyle1476 There's lots, but I'll focus in on what really stands to me in the writing. There's an ESSAY below. Character Growth and The Main Plot are excellently linked. In MoL, Jaller dies, which prompts Takua to don the Mask of Light face Makuta, resolving his main character flaw (irresponsibility). Because of this, he faces Makuta and defeats him. In LoMN, Vakama goes through the catharsis of failing as a leader, seeing Dume's body, realising that if the Toa Metru don't step up Teridax will rule the city, and refusing to let that happen. He overcomes his main personality flaw - underconfidence. Because of this, the Toa band together, seal the Makuta away, and save the Matoran. In WoS, Matau sees the damage his unkind words did to Vakama, feels guilt, and learns humility and respect for him. He ultimately decided to trust his leadership fully by apologising and them jumping off the Coliseum. Matau overcomes his main personality flaw - his ego. This brings Vakama back to the light side and allows him to banish the Visorak Horde. In TLR... Mata Nui's main personality flaw is a misunderstanding of the culture around him. But he doesn't actually have any real personal flaws. The Skrall plot is solved with Mata Nui... figuring out that Tuma has a slipped disk? And Click asking his buddies to scare off the Skrall? And the Power of Friendship blast? The Metus plot is solved with absolutely no reasoning at all, he just shows up and reveals himself before Mata Nui punishes him. If Mata Nui's main flaw was cultural misunderstanding, a better solution would have been for him to offend Agori society in the first act, spend the second act learning more about it, and then re-gaining their respect in the third, which leads to them flighting the Skrall. Perhaps his actions in the Arena first act disgrace well-respected and Agori favorite Ackar, and Ackar is exiled. Mata Nui goes with him and they learn from each other, with Kiina and Gresh along the way. They all arrive in a ransacked Tajun, Ackar dies in a heroic act that redeems him in the eyes of the Agori, and Mata Nui leads them on to defeat the Skrall. And as it's a kids film, Mata Nui can use the Ignika to revive Ackar. There are other aspects I like. Full Teams of 6 Toa features instead of the handful we saw (no Malum, Stronius, Gelu. Strakk, Vastus and Tarix hardly featured). Less awful humor. Makuta a far more intimidating bad guy. Character Death. The Matoran Universe generally more interesting than Bara Magna. But the writing is the main thing for me.

I really like the aesthetic of this movie (ignoring the spinning bolts) but the script is awful. The Mirimax trilogy was way better
