Its an accumulation od Covid, Out of Town shopping, internet shopping, business rates, cheap foreign holidays and the british weather why Blackpool has failed, along with most high streets.

Blackpool council have made it harder to trade, I remember in the 90s there was tv advertising promoting Blackpool and what it had to offer, that does not happen anymore. Me and my friends were shocked at how much the sandcastle were charging for entry, lots of attractions were very expensive, this means people will just come for the day and not stay, Blackpool council make parking expensive and they can waste money on things like the tram extension the cost for going on the tram is now £3.50 Blackpool council could for a start allow free parking on the street until 10am instead of 8am for a start.

Yates is a tragedy. It is a fine Art Deco building and an important piece of Blackpool's architectural heritage. It needs to be "Listed' as a building of architectural merit. It was formerly the Red Lion when I first knew it in 1984, later becoming Leo's. Hartes is the old Woolworths store. It was very popular with local people. Apparently they sold Christmas decorations all year. Bond Street is finished. Sadly Blackpook has become an embarassment. I lived there for 7 years an left 25 years ago. I would not go back. The town is finished. Very sad.

Was there last weekend terry. 2 night stay at Savoy with caledonian travel. Was told it was worst hotel in Blackpool. Nowt wrong with it. Was cheap and basic but meals were lovely and tram right outside. Enjoyed market on the evening.
Mate still a good place to go just a shame to see so many places closed I’m pleased you enjoyed it

Thanks for the video! I remember going to Blackpool as a kid in the 70s and 80s and it was always jam-packed. Now it looks pretty rough. I even heard a rumour that Blackpool was housing loads of refugees. Such a shame!
In the 90s it was very busy and all shops seemed open such a shame now mate thanks for watching

@@Hotondave68 Yes, Brittania Metropole, the only hotel on the promenade is housing immigrants for £35 a day each via governmental funds. A new temporary entrance/exit is housed around the back. Got to appease the Daily Mail and Express-reading scuzz. These people need refuge, it doesn't bother me. What bothers me is the DISGUSTING state of disrepair caused by Brittania.

Ergo, we got nearly every grant going. The town is undergoing huge projects and is in a league of its own seaside-wise. Only good days ahead. Ignore the rough bits, the new multi-million projects are everywhere. Why? Domestic tourism is back to skyrocketing thanks to the idiots that voted for Brexit, plus as a reward for installing a Tory MP in both Blackpool seats; North and South, we got nearly all money requested.
Labour seat request for funds? Nah.
Oh you're Tory now? Take all this cash.
The only silver lining of dealing with this wicked corrupt entitled government, Blackpool has done incredibly out of it.
Blackpool Tourist Board are also great at submitting bids.
Google Blackpool projects, it's just awash with building work.

I used to go there as a kid in the 1980s during the six weeks holiday and it used to be great... Shame how a once great town has fallen to rack and ruin, Bloomfield Road Stadium which has been the home to League One Blackpool FC since 1899 is just behind you at 09:20 in this video.

In my opinion, nearly all British seaside towns are going the same way. When I was a nipper we used to go to Margate in Kent and, like Blackpool, it was busy and thriving. Now it's an eye sore and a place to avoid!

@@rickytonks4906 ,I go 4 times a year and my daughter lives in Lytham and this year has been awful , like a ghost town midweek ,even this week with Scottish holidays on ,it's barely busy . The pleasure beach charging £50 on the day and £36 online ,when loads of the rides are not working . I love Blackpool ,but it's dying and is getting more grubby and derelict .
