I built mine last week ; sadly not nearly as fast assembly as i had hoped due to moulding issues on both turrets and one pair of exhausts had to be scratch built because of a short shot . Still, now they have some paint on them they look good , certainly far better than the Armourfast kits 🙂👍
Good video and presentation !! MATCHBOX kits were very popular back in my boyhood days in BELFAST tbt BUT not ALL are fans of "rubber band tracks " LOL the display of various types / manufacturer of PANTHER a nice touch !! I've assembled ALL kits shown and im taken with ALL kits ;AS a WOGELLER ( WARGAMER MODELLER ) and mega fan of 20mm /1/72 and 1-76 th scales from many years MODELLING (yeah some 50 years ...I know guys lol ) my advice is to mix n match !!! WHEN you do research you find that WERMACHT and SS KMPF GRPs ... NORMANDY area OPS etc the REALITY !!as opposed to MASS ARMOURED DIVISIONS considering the movement of MAJORITY of PZR and PZR GREN fmns from OSTFRONT to NORMANDIE and back and forth Historically this becomes a fascination and fixation (trust me !!) PATTONs 3D US ARMY advance and thrusts and C movements alone wreaked VAST devastation on GERMAN PZR forces SO!? In ratio terms PZR KMPF GRPs are ideal and COST EFFECTIVE for most MODELLERS Wargames ILLUSTRATED mag ran a 2 parter feature on a chap WHO built a 1 35 scale PZR fmn (12 SS ? And elms 21PZR ) for a NORMANDIE wargaming a grp or club display in fairness HE did majority of MODELLING!!!! EYE CANDY for any TANK MODELLERS !!! ALSO have good CAM scheme mix PLEASE NO purists LOL GOOD LUCK to all modellers !!
Ronan Hayes Would you recommend Italeri or PSC? For dioramas* I am ordering M5/T-34/Panzer IV and another kit from PSC in 1/72 and wondering how they compare.
@@StalkeraBg It depends what you are matching in with from a brand perspective. If you are using PSC, use only PSC as they are a bit chunky and differences would be noticeable between other brands in a diorama context. Italeri match in better with other brands in that regard if your dio had a few diffreent brands in it.
Ok RONAN like your style particularly the CAM scheme on the PANTHERS very much impressed !! One Panzer unit did have the gun cleaning kit mounted across the rear as per the model, cannot remember who but it was in Normandy. Needs side skirts to hide that front track curve
Hi Mike, I have to agree with you there. Since making this video I have seen contemporary footage and images of a Panther with the cleaning kit mounted in that fashion. I can't imagine it was that practical however as I reckon it would have been shot to bits even with small arms fire!
@@HayesRonan Re the gun cleaning kit - From On The Way review - This position was a field modification used by the I./24 PzRgt, the 654 sPzJgrAbt and the GD PzDiv.
Been thinking of getting back into 1/72 ww2 wargaming after an almost 50 year lapse. But am still undecided which armor line to go with. Basically I want the most durable model in case I accidently drop it on my concrete floor. I'm thinking the Italeri fast build is the way to go. I like the fact that it comes in only 10 parts. I tried putting together a 1/100 Zeveda model and broke half the pieces, just too small and flimsy. My other option is the ready made diecasts, but I hear the tracks tend to break easily? What do you suggest? Thanks
@@lego_turkey1070 It certainly should. Try a little on a sample section, perhaps even on the internal part of the vehicle to see how it goes first. Depending on the paint/plastic etc. it may be no harm to undercoat first. I have used Humbrol acrylics previously and find them pretty good. I normally use enamels, but that's only because I have a huge box of them gathered over the years. Hope that helps and best of luck with it. Let us know how you get on with it. Ronan.

Nice review and video. Looks like a lovely model. The PSC one looks really great. I did the PSC and a Hasagawa, but if you were to choose between Italeri and Armourfast, for the Panther, which way would you lean?
I hear you . They are brutally basic to the point where they are only a vague approximation of the real thing . For my money they aren't even good enough for wargames . I'd only buy one if it was extremely cheap and i knew a 6yo who wanted to do his first tank 😃
Handy for the war games to be fair. Have to say there are better Panther kits out there, the Revell kits being well up there. Italeri is a great set however.
Nice video. To the size comparison it should be noticed that the Airfix Panther is in 1:76 scale where the others are in 1:72. sS the Airfix panther must be smaler. compared to the other ones..
Problem with one peice tracks/wheels the track shoes are rudimentary. Show them covered in 'mud', only the tips showing through and, as always painting convincing camo for the Germans is an art I have yet to master. Just show them factory finish IE dunkelgelb. What about zimmerit?

I haven’t purchased many of italeri tanks but your review has given me much to consider due to its ease of set up.
I have to say I was impressed, they're not bad at all. Great for war gaming.

Get the Italeri. All of Armourfast kits are crap .

They are not kits like Revell, Zvezda, Hasegawa, etc. but if they are well painted, I have seen one Panzer iv ausf F , they give a nice effect.

The main issue with the airfix panther isn't the scale , it's more that its truely awful 🤣
Seems some nice models, only problem is the commander's hatch, being closed you can't add a figure
Not terribly difficult to modify 🙂
wenn du deutsch sprichst klingt das ziemlich gut, nicht so verzogen wie die meisten Briten/Amis das machen, fast alles richtig betont, sehr gut!

For zimmerit and better tracks get the PSC kit . It's not a -G, though .
