A Bridge Too Far brought me here. Fantastic review. Everything about it was super clear. Loved the down to earth yet comprehensive attitude. And the calm, comfort atmosphere of the review. I'd love to see a review of you cutting and sanding the minis, that would be epic. And love to ITALERI (ans ESCI before), number 1.
So glad to find that the old ESCI products didn't just disappear - I recently dug the old ESCI vac-form Arnhem diorama out of the attic, and now can repopulate it with Italeri Brit paras
Hi nice review. My favorite British Paratrooper 1/72 kit. I've already got 1box of these Im going to buy another 2 more this Tuesday in Aotearoa /New Zealand. I'm not a fan of the AIRFIX 1/72 paratroopers kit. My Rating for Airfix Paratroopers 1/72 kit 5/10. My Rating for Italeri/Esci Paratroopers 1/72 kit. 10/10 the best.
My favourite set of British para's would be the early 90's Revell set. Plastic perfect colour for allied figures. Not bought the Italeri set so far, will perhaps have to consider a box after watching this. Already bought some of the recent Italeri sets such as the elite German Infantry and DAK.
Absolutely love the 1/72 size army men. I went nuts on these back in the day being a kid. My faves were the U.S. Paratroopers, then the Germans. I kinda liked the brown Russians with their big Russian coats on as well. The Japanese green were ok also. Great great addicting fun setting them up in dirt being the commander determining who the winner would be.
I realise this is an old video. In the early 70's I did tabletp wargaming and purchased several of the original ESCI kits to make up a para group. They were the glue together kits and I also changed some of the poses.
Nice review, I will be buying these soon for a project I have concerning Arnhem. The detail is good and the figures look a lot better than the Revell set, which I found had a lot of mold flashing around the figures. It is a shame that Pegasus has not produced a British Para set.
The same esci figures ,but the best plastic quality, hard plastic is better that original polymers of esci🙏🙏🙏💪💪💪.We can do perdurable paints and modifications on bodies of figures if we enjoy costumize those figures, changing his body poses
I tempted to pick this up but I'm worried about butchering them while getting them off the sprues. Even a perfect removal's going to result in flat spots. I'm guessing that by having them solidly attached to the sprue helps them get such good detail and without flash. Amazon has the Heller version for 17 USD or a glider with 25 paras for 42 USD.
Thanks for the reply, i started gaming in the mid sixties when airfix was it, used the featherstone, charles grant rules when they came out in early seventies. Over the years graduated to lead building up over 12000 painted figures in a variety of periods with more and more complex rules. I had the luxury of a 24 by 7 gamingtable but after a divorce and a chosen lifestyle change i moved to the wilds of NB Canada and with noone around stopped gaming for 14 years , however the bug hit me a few years ago and i started again.i had never gamed modern and decided on ww2 , korea and french indochina all in plastic. Soloing only went back to my roots with my own highly modified version of Grant rules.i am getting too old to be bothered with painting anymore as the game nd tactics are much moe enjoyable and my games involve hundreds of figures and dozens of vehicles at a time. I enjoy your vids , very informative even though i dont watch them for that , just enjoy listening to people talking about it. You maybe spend too much time on the box , but who gives a fock.i tried to reply to your email but said did not exist. Could you send a current email address so i can contact you better as i am not really very computer literate. Keep up the good work , jolly good show and cheers trevor
Hey those are really nice figures!!Alot of the time the Lee Enfield rifle in this small of scale the front sight is almost non existent. But these its clearly there and nice.
Hi Mark, yes it's a very good quality set and well known for it, it's much better than the Revell set which for some reason is marked higher on Plastic Soldier Review
Thanks for another great video. If you get a chance try the REVELL British Paratroopers. I have one set of them same size 1/72 as well as this set. The only confusing part for me were the colours of the sets. One set promoted Green (REVELL) and another (Italeri) light tan. There were only limited run of the ESCI edition for this set in the Dark Brown which is very hard to find for fair price. I realize the owner of the set can paint them in any colours but i was curious why 3 different company selected 3 different colour as their choice. Your thoughts as well as your subscribers thoughts are always appreciated. Best wishes for you and yours. John
I would definitely recommend the Revell set. Purchased a box in the early nineties and the colour of the plastic was perfect for an allied set. Also great detail and poses as with their late war US and German Infantry from the BOB campaign. Only Revell figures I would not recommend would be the German fallschirmjager which are some of the worst moulds I have ever scene and I have been purchasing figures in this scale as a child since about 1970 when I would buy any airfix set for about 17p a box. They were the days!
I can't disagree about the Airfix realism, but they do have a charm all their own. This one is a good set, I have mine from the Esci era. Valiant do a generic British infantry set with para/commando beret heads as an option over steel helmets. Nice figures, but even more wargame type figures.
