  • 3 STEPS TO KILL YOUR PREGAME NERVES!
    For Athletes to elevate their confidence and play at a higher level its important to have a pregame routine.
    1. Positive Self-Talk & Visualizing Success. I am a strong believer in self-talk, positive self-Talk for an athlete, being able to believe in yourself. Talk to yourself, pregame, talk about the success that you've had in your mind and talk about how hard you worked and that you're ready, you're prepared for this game. I also tell our athletes is visualize success in this game.
    2. Pregame Warmup is very, very important to. I understand that the high school landscape, you get x amount of time to really have a good pregame warmup, and you have to do certain drills with your team. But if you can get a really good 5, 10 minute, even 15 minute pregame warmup, it's very important. It's going to shift your mind. A routine is going to be able to help you relax and get ready for this game.
    3. Control what you can Control in the Game.your Breathing & Energy/ Control your breathing, relax your nerves, because again, you don't want to be too fired up and that it's going to take over the whole game. You want to come out with energy. but pace yourself because your game is long. So control your breathing, get into a relaxed state, and then be ready to go and play at a high level. Having a routine visualizing success, controlling that game, controlling what you can control during that game is important for an athlete.
