Very industrious with the shelf building. October films to consider, Burnt Offerings, Magic, The Changeling, Prince of Darkness, The Legend of Hell House, Psycho II, Repulsion, Doctor Jekyll and Sister Hyde, The Innocents, Fade to Black, Session 9…..I could go on.
All the secrets reveiled 😄 It's going to be an excellent Halloween. It's not a decidedly "film expert pick", but any Vincent Price would be nice for the season. Or the original "Wicker Man"...
You should put a pinata in there with movies inside and every month you put on a blindfold and get the chance to randomly attack the pinata to see which movie comes out to watch and review. Thoughts?
Okay dude I refined (some might say perfected) your October viewing schedule. Satyricon (Fellini) + Dog Star Man (Brakhage) Even Dwarfs Started Small (Herzog) + La cicatrice intérieure (Garrel) The Damned (Losey) + The Damned (Visconti) Santa Sangre (Jodorowsky) Trouble Every Day (Denis) Eden & After (Robbe-Grillet) Matador (Almodóvar) Spirit of the Beehive (Erice) The Magick Lantern Cycle (Anger) Experiment in Terror (Edwards) + Angst (Kargl) The Criminal Life of Archibaldo de la Cruz (Buñuel) Peau d'âne (Demy) + Maîtresse (Schroeder) Beauty and The Beast (Cocteau) + Blood of the Beasts (Franju) The Addiction (Ferrara) + Nadja (Almereyda) Sleeping Beauty + Blue Beard (Breillat) Casual Relations (Rappaport) The Cat and the Canary (Leni) + The Hands of Orlac (Wiene) Valerie and Her Week of Wonders (Jireš) The Tales of Hoffmann (Powell, Pressburger) + Giselle (Royal Ballet w/ Cojocaru) My Neighbor Tortoro (Miyazaki) Vienna Actionists Vol. 1 & 2 (Various) Aktionen (Hermann Nitsch) Malpertuis (Kümel) Day of Wrath (Dryer) + I Married a Witch (Claire) Angel Heart (Parker) Duelle + Noroît (Rivette) Cape Fear (Scorsese) + Cat People (Schrader) Ugetsu (Mizoguchi) Onibaba + Kuroneko (Shindo) Kwaidan (Kobayashi) On a Silver Globe (Zulawski) And dude if you want to go hard I can turn all the remaining singles into doubles. Just ask. As you can see, I kind of have a knack for it. Or if my OCD flares up again you might get it regardless. Lol.
Do you change the settings on your TV when you watch a 4k movie? I change it to HDR mode, but I still can't see much of a difference besides being darker.
I was bored at work today so I scheduled your October (dates and showtimes TBD): Santa Sangre (Jodorowsky) Trouble Every Day (Denis) Eden & After (Robbe-Grillet) Matador (Almodóvar) Spirit of the Beehive (Erice) The Magick Lantern Cycle (Anger) Angst (Kargl) The Criminal Life of Archibaldo de la Cruz (Buñuel) Maitresse (Schroeder) Beauty and The Beast (Cocteau) + Blood of the Beasts (Franju) The Addiction (Ferrara) + Nadja (Almereyda) Sleeping Beauty + Blue Beard (Breillat) Casual Relations (Rappaport) The Cat and the Canary (Leni) + The Hands of Orlac (Wiene) Valerie and Her Weekend of Wonders (Jireš) The Tales of Hoffmann (Powell, Pressburger) My Neighbor Tortoro (Miyazaki) Vienna actionists Vol. 1 & 2 (Various) Aktionen (Hermann Nitsch) La cicatrice intérieure (Garrel) Malpertuis (Kümel) Day of Wrath (Dryer) Angel Heart (Parker) Duelle + Noroît (Rivette) Cape Fear (Scorsese) Cat People (Schrader) Ugetsu (Mizoguchi) Onibaba + Kuroneko (Shindo) Kwaidan (Kobayashi) TBA - something by Ken Russell TBA - something by Zulawski + = double feature nights
Hey Davy have you ever seen The Reincarnation of Peter Proud? I think it's a damn unknown masterpiece by the masses! Discovered it from Quention Tarantino's podcast. He was talking about how J. Lee Thompson is one of his favorite directors and talking about Happy Birthday To Me a stone cold 80s slasher classic! I'm guessing you probably saw Peter Proud but my goal is to stump you one of these days! 😀
I have it. It's good, not great (like the album) I've not got much to add to some of the ones I've seen, honestly. If I don't have a take, I tend not to review something - ends up just reviewing whatever's new, whether passionate or not.
Very good collection ,take care
Looking forward to spooky season! Lookinh forward to some horror film discussions and reviews. Cheers pal
I think you know one title already!
Hammer for Halloween? On the Buses? Yes please
*Blakey voice* I 'ate you, Rogers!
Awesome collection buddy I thought mine was a big collection but this is next level.
Appreciate the update! One of my favourite horror flicks is Session 9 - has a great atmosphere and soundtrack.

“Q,” David Carridine and Michael Moriarty. That movie is a blast.

Close, top floor of Victorian tenement.

J. Lee Thompson is one of my faves! I have the Kino blu of Proud, it's a cracker. That's one I may well do!
Any way to turn your mic/audio up. Got my sound turn 100/100 and barely hear, said the man with one ear.
Yes - with my mic! This was a quickie update. Regular vids don't have device input vol!
Hi Davy have you or are you going to review the Jethro Tull Broadsword and The Beast Box set ?
I have it. It's good, not great (like the album) I've not got much to add to some of the ones I've seen, honestly. If I don't have a take, I tend not to review something - ends up just reviewing whatever's new, whether passionate or not.
Please can you do a video on the Criterion Collection release of Dude, Where's My Car?
Waiting on their 4K of it!
great collection but very low sound
Can't help when I'm doing a quick one with device input in the room!
Hi Davy any idea how many you have ?
Terrified to do the maths! The room next door is twice that for music.
