Excellent video. You covered lots of ground. Love how much you take care of your dogs. And that you bring them along. Just part of the family. Thanks for shooting and posting this. I'll be watching this again with my notepad out.
Can you do a video or give advice on how you get your dogs to stay near you? My Doberman stays near me at all times UNTIL he sees a squirrel or deer or dog. I’d like to give him the freedom instead of always being tethered but I just can’t anymore. We work hard on recall, but it doesn’t stick if there are distraction. Advice and tips would be so so helpful as we’re starting our camping/hiking journey.
Sounds like starting with tethered recall around those distractions is maybe what he needs. Maybe try a leash and/or a long line when training around those distractions, so that you can keep him from running off and can use it to help get his attention and cue him if he doesn't respond when asked. That's one idea. Another idea (either on its own or in addition to the leash/long line, whatever works for you) is using very high value treats - basically, you want to make yourself be more interesting to the dog than whatever it is that he's wanting to chase, so if there's a treat that he will do absolutely anything for, you could try that. I know some people use an ecollar with their dogs, either on its own or in addition to a leash/long line. I'm not a dog trainer, those are just some things I've learned from others/seen other people do (a lot of the ones I've watched on UA-cam have trained service dogs, and those living breathing pieces of medical equipment are trained to ignore all kinds of distractions), so take that for what you will. There are a bunch more things I can't think of right now (I'm not sure how various training tools (slip chain, prong, martingale, head halter, etc.) work when attached to a long line, since most of the ones I know of are designed for close up use, i.e. with the dog on a leash, so much closer to you), but hopefully that at least gives you a jumping off point either of where to start to try things out to see what works for you and your dog, or to be able to come up with more ideas of your own. Hope that helps at least a little bit.
we had a christmas collar that lit up and was cheap and silly, but it is a SUPER effective way to spot your dog in the dark. I like your little clip lights.. thats the best solution
I enjoyed the video, but that's a bit much to haul for 3 dogs and one person. Of course me judging you when I'm an ultralight hiker with 2 dogs is a bit much. I gotta try Glamping sometime. Although those look like some Uber happy and comfy doggos. My dogs have an ultralight pad, couples quilt and flatpack folding bowls. I make their food and dehydrate it at home. My dogs entire load out weights 3 lbs with food and clothes. If you ever wanna get into ultralight hiking with dogs, give me a shout. With dog gear, I'm at 13lbs baseweight and 21 lbs with water for us and food for 3-4 days.
Thank you ! I have 2 large dogs, and hoping to add a new puppy. It takes an extra skillset to handle 3. I will be fulltime RVing starting this fall. Thank you !
Adorable pups. How do you handle daily trash? Keeping it from wild animals, smells contained and were do you keep your daily trash until you leave or dump it? Thx in advance for any suggestions.
Hey Hana! This was such a useful video! I actually watched quite a few videos that you created because I'm about to go camping with my corgi for an upcoming long weekend. Thank you for sharing your expertise . I'm literally so impressed that you are able to camp with three dogs on your own - and the fact that you and your partner regularly go camping with all of them is just so incredible. Please keep up the amazing work ! I'm really looking forward to putting the information I learned into practice in a couple of weeks :) If you have any time at all - I would love it if you could provide some any additional feedback or tips about easing dogs into getting comfortable sleeping in unfamiliar areas! Did you have any issues with overnight noises that you needed to train your dogs with?
that's calm fucking dogs! Mine will keep bumping and whining for me to throw the stick or ball, today we went on a 4hour trek in soaking damp tundras with heavy rain... and I was constantly throwing the ball or having her bump into my legs or run in front dropping the ball waiting for me to pick it up as I pass (didn't do that because I was trying to walk :D). She's just a year old, so today I just bought a tent and I'm hoping to go camping over night with her this autum/winter getting her used to sleeping outside over night so we might do long over night stay during summer
Since ur dog is allergic to big bites u should spray the camp site before u set up the tent ⛺️ so the dugs won’t be in the close area to the entrance of the tent and site.
Excellent video, now train your dog to stop whining....sucks to watch the video with my dogs cuz they want to bark at your dogs whines... also in adobe audition you can filter their whines out of the sound if you'd like! seriously you have a great video with lots of great gear! i wish i had that car jumper!!!
A real stick can splinter, and stab a dog in the back of their throat. There's a story where a girl's mother didn't take her daughter's concerns seriously, threw a stick for the daughter's border collie, and it broke in the dog's mouth. The dog tripped, stumbled, head came forward and down the the sharp stuck stabbed through the throat and it the spinal cord, paralyzing the three year old dog. Never throw real sticks please.

Happy 4th# of July. 💕🎆🎇✨🙂
Sophia Duarte happy 4th to you too! Our dogs love sleeping with their sleeping bags!
Would you recommend the Hurtta body warmer?
Taking my dogs to the lake for the first time tomorrow😭
❤❤❤
can fire pit for bbq be used while camping with dogs?
It would depend on the dog. Many are fine and sensible about staying away from them, others would bounce their way towards it.
Sooooo cutee
love it!

The intro is a green screen. We're not stupid.
That's alot of stuff
I’m sorry I realized your car camping and sleeping on the ground but your dogs (at least 2) are crashing on a cot. Really oh the humanity of it.
Don’t use bug spray on your skin. Not good!
everything was fine till you brought a fake stick to the woods for your dog to play with...
real sticks are dangerous for dogs
