  • We moved from the sunny state of Florida to begin what we hope will be winters filled with traveling to other countries. We have been talking about moving out of the United States for a couple of years now and we finally made our first move to our dreams of becoming nomads in our 50s. We get asked all the time about our decision to move to another country, we wanted to share with you some of the top questions we get asked all the time.
Hey, we’re Michele and Trevor and we sold our house in Venice Florida with everything in it. What we had left fit in the back of our Toyota tundra. We are currently in Asheville North Carolina waiting for it to cool down to be able to fly with our dogs to Thailand.

I'm enjoying the Venice area with my cat, I don't spend much money either and I've donated allot of stuff to goodwill and other animal rescue thrifts here. But, I still have a ton of stuff in storage and need to go through it is really tough when someone passes away to get rid of things. As far as your dogs go, my gut is telling me that leaving them with his parents for your first trip is the safest way to go. That way once you go, you'll know if you like it and if you feel safe there etc that's such a long flight for them.

So glad you are loving Venice with your cat, cats are awesome!! We've been through the move several times and it took each time to donate more stuff until we've gotten to where we are now. I understand parting with a loved ones things. I had three big quilts that has been in my family (Michele) for a long time. I knew taking them to thailand would be silly so I posted them in a small Facebook group and found homes for them. I don't know what that made me feel better about parting with them. Take it one day at a time and maybe even photograph some of the items before finding new homes. We get attached to things and it's sometimes so hard to let them go. I have a shirt that my momma wore and a few other things and that's it and I cherish them. I think the dogs will stay with Trevor's parents, it will be safer for them. They need an airplane for fur children!!! Thanks so much for watching!!♥

i lived in thailand for the last 7 years. it is not all roses. there are several annoyances and obstacles to deal with daily within thai culture. don't have high, dreamlike expectations. there are benefits to living here but there are also headaches.

Thanks for the comments. We have friends there and they tell us what’s up. I mean, it’s not perfect anywhere in the world. If there was, we’d all be there. We want the adventure, we want to experience the culture, we want a break from this way of life. Just a change, ya know. Will it be permanent? We don’t know yet. We just know Thailand is first on the list right now. Our dreamlike expectations of Thailand is the exotic fruit experience we’ll have for half the price we have here in the states. What are some of the things you hate/love being there? We’re still researching and know, there’s not a perfect place. ❤️❤️ thanks so much for letting us know though, we do sometimes get caught up in the turquoise water thinking “paradise.” ~Michele ❤️❤️

There are certain aspects of Thai culture that drive me mad. The concept of losing face is one of them. Carrying a high rep in Thailand is ultra important at the cost of logic, sanity and authenticity. These people Deeply care about what others think of each other and are ultra sensitive to it regardless if it they are guided by genuine self conduct. It tends to promote a superficial type of culture - think "keeping up with the jonses" on steroids. Got to show off what you have on social media at every opportunity to show others that you are making it, etc. I will share more later...

@@trevorandmichele yes i love it here. I'm Muslim so i think that makes a big difference, but its not like a super strict country. They dont bother tourists, just for money but just like 2am on the main street, but just problems of any major city, only here at least theyre not all on fentanyl and meth like USA major cities now. The weather here is perfect for me, 60 during day in winter the low, high of 85 average in summer, mostly dry, nature close by, see spain from my apartment, paying 500 a month furnished. I worked out deal w my airbnb host. All depends your priorities. I wanted cannabis friendly area, they grow most the hash in africa and eurasia in mountains next to Tangier, safe, its 3x safer than usa, especially downtowns of cities way safer, families out at 12 1 am still walking around en masse, more culture, it goes back to Phoenicians here, affordable, everythinig is half to 4x as cheap as usa. I was very nervous before i left, after being here within a day that went away. Keep some guard up but dont let anyone step on your LIghts, its your happiness not theirs, anyone hating is 99.999% only just jealous. Its ok for 50 million illegals to come to USA? But we cannot migrate legally and put our money into other economies and benefit them? ignore all haters let them rot in their despair. be your own main characters, Trevor sounds solid, lean on him, you dont need to do all his masculine roles, but still keep your head on a swivel when outside until you understand their culture more. No gangs in morocco, just one big mafia, its great. Dont even need to carry a knife around.

Congratulations on your exciting adventure. I’ve been watching your channel for a while and it’s been weighing on my mind to say, please consider not taking your dogs on a 25 hour flight. It gets hot under there and the air doesn’t circulate well. They put the luggage in the same area as the dogs. Not a good situation.

I hope you can adjust to the high humidity in Thailand. The pictures do not completely tell a true story. But if you come from Florida or any area with high humidity in summer you may be able to tolerate the weather. Thailand is very hospitable but you do need to get Medical and Dental insurance to cover globally while travel.

You can have it all, early retirement is a new trend and it's a good one (per my experience and I am 53). I hate to tell you guys, you need to leave dogs to a family or find good people and move on. I know you love them so much, but your travel may not be good for dogs. Start Traveling!!! I've been all around the world, you need to see it, there are so many beautiful places. I like the USA as a country to make money....only. In terms of the quality of living, healthcare, food it is not a cool place anymore. Overrated, expensive and ...pretty boring (don't kill me for that). I am in Belarus right now, seeing better doctors than in the USA. I always had health insurance. Our US dentists have lost their marbles with the high prices and low quality of their work! The regular doctors overseas are Rx comprehensive! blood tests to make sure they're on the right path to treat you. I am getting to see in the US only a nurse practitioner (with or without health insurance) who knows nothing. The process is long , expensive and not effective. There are many countries with good, fast, inexpensive healthcare. Variety and quality of food, the cheaper price make it attractive as well. I don't recommend doing AIRBNB since it is not a passive income. There are too many expenses plus non-stop communications with your always changing rentals. They will rather ask you instead of Google it. As an owner of several properties, I've calculated for several years and came to a favor of the annual rent. This is one of many ways to get easy passive income. I wish you the best and to finally get out of the country to see the World. Check out Portugal, Hungary, Spain, Italy as well.

We're thinking we'll airbnb our house that will live in for just the winters while we're gone. Just a little money instead of it being vacant. I don't want the hassle to be honest and we might not do it if we can get a business going online. OMG the dentist here are smoking something because just to get your teeth cleaned you have to have soooo much crap done!! LIKE JUST CLEAN MY TEETH. nope!!! We started going to the school of dentistry which was cheaper but not by much. I (michele) have never been comfortable with putting the dogs on the flight, I just can't do it to them. Trevors parents will spoil them while we take mini trips. We are still up in the air with how we'll do this. Even being in Thailand having the dogs will be unfair to them going from one spot to another, I think anyway. Portugal is definitely on our list, we have friends that just left FL for Portugal and they love it. We'll hopefully figure something out. Hope ya'll are doing well and thanks for the comment!! gives us something to think about.
