If giving away money to people is so beneficial to the economy, maybe they should make it permanent. How about universal basic income? The modern economy is driven by demand, by consumption, better to give money to those who need them, they would spend it on goods and services than to give tax breaks to the rich. The trickle-down economy doesn't work.
Why the hell would you do that? You're assuming that: 1) government officials are smart; 2) government officials act in the best interests of the average person; 3) the rich and corporations don't spend billions of dollars a year brainwashing the middle class that this economic system works best for them even when it clearly doesn't.
I've got news for you. Trickle down does work. Without job creators and innovation there would be no middle class. You do know the U.S. is the strongest economic country in the world. It absolutely, unequivocally, didn't get that way because of entitlements and universal basic incomes. If anything, it makes our country weaker.
I love ya bull, but you're very wrong about economics. The economy isn't booming, the bubble has been enflated with air, money printing. Inflation is out of control as a result, look at commodities. And it didn't grow, it regained what was lost. Smh

@Juan Suero People only seem to think short-term. The poor and middle-class will get screwed by inflation while the rich will prosper. In the month of March, the high majority of government spending was paid for using debt (mostly by the federal reserve printing money to buy treasury bonds (i.e., monetizing the debt)). I believe only ≈ 30% was paid for by tax revenue. Who gets hurt by this the most? Those who hold cash and earn a fixed wage (i.e., mostly the poor and middle class). Your wage will not increase in correlation with inflation nearly as quickly as an asset would. Also, your cash savings purchasing power is becoming eroded. Who benefits the most? Those who own assets that were by paid using debt (I.e., the rich) - their assets appreciate in relative correlation with inflation (looking at housing prices, stocks, etc.) and their debt obligation becomes less burdensome (easier to pay off a certain amount of debt with devalued currency. Think about trying to pay off $1,000 in debt 100 years vs. today. Today, $1,000 is nothing. 100 years ago, it was much more burdensome).
@Juan Suero there are more people in the world than just you. I personally will be fine but others will feel the consequences and they don’t even realize they are getting screwed and that upsets me
@Juan Suero all of the pros you just listed were consequent of the free-market that the left seems to hate so much. I agree with you in the sense that our standard of living gets better and better. I just think the actions taken in the past two years will cause a collapse in the dollar, causing us to lose our reserve currency status, and destroy the economy.
@Juan Suero I think you’re missing my point...I am not saying you need millions to be happy. I am not sure where you got that from. Unless you have a position where your compensation directly correlates with inflation, then you will be losing purchasing power year after year. Maybe that’s not a big deal to you, but tell that to the guy who earns a relatively set wage and can barely make ends meet as it is. Also, you are acting like saving is a bad thing and we should disincentivize it though inflation. Yes, spending circulates the money, but saving is how we get capital investment. Right now, we don’t need to save to invest because interest rates have been held so artificially low so it has been incredibly cheap to borrow so saving has become unnecessary. Once inflation picks up (which it inevitably will), the only way we can slow it is by reducing the cost to produce (via globalization and technology) and/or raise interest rates to incentive people to save and pay off their debt obligations. However, we have so much debt that increasing interest rates would cause the US to default on its debt which would destroy the demand for the dollar globally as we would no longer be seen as a safe currency. This in combination with China’s Belt and Road Initiative (which is going to make China the center for international trade) and in conjunction with China’s release of its digital Yuan (which is offering very cheap and very easily accessible credit denominated in Yuans globally) would cause us to lose the reserve currency status to the Chinese Yuan. Once we no longer have the reserve currency, we won’t have the luxury of just printing money for global trade and even for domestic consumption. We are sitting on a house of cards and we are making it much worse by acting fiscally reckless for short-term gain.
I'm an American and I think that if I am in debt to myself, that is jake. I find solace knowing that I pay taxes to further the interests of society. It means I am doing okay.

The increased economy was due to the reopening from the lockdown, which has nothing to do with Biden. The recovery from the Pandemic was from Trump’s vaccines, which totally should be on Trump's credits. Biden has been hiding and has not done anything good since taking office. It's so comfy and reassuring to have the old ways of war back eh?
You mean like Trump not honoring his troop pullout deadline from Afghanistan ending this weekend and threatening to continue one or start a new one?
What like leaving Afghanistan which your mate didn’t do in 4 years
Both the right and the left did their best to keep troops in Afghanistan. If you think that was all Trump not doing anything you are burying your head in the sand. Why you assume anyone that criticizes Biden or the Dems as a Trump fanboy I'm not sure either. We'll see when the troops are home. My guess is never no matter who is in charge. Consumers drive the economy? But the GOP told me it was tax cuts!
In your household-does SPENDING make you richer or does working and saving?
This didn't age well...
Thx Bill
If giving away money to people is so beneficial to the economy, maybe they should make it permanent. How about universal basic income? The modern economy is driven by demand, by consumption, better to give money to those who need them, they would spend it on goods and services than to give tax breaks to the rich. The trickle-down economy doesn't work.
U r right, but I'm not American so it obviously makes sense to me!
Why the hell would you do that? You're assuming that: 1) government officials are smart; 2) government officials act in the best interests of the average person; 3) the rich and corporations don't spend billions of dollars a year brainwashing the middle class that this economic system works best for them even when it clearly doesn't.
Maybe the human leeches on Earth should just stop consuming.
@@Marijuanifornia Leeches are those who exploit everybody, who are born into elites. If people stop consuming, the economy will collaps.
I've got news for you. Trickle down does work. Without job creators and innovation there would be no middle class.

If anything, it makes our country weaker.

Whenever I hear someone say our economy (our real economy) is good, I know they know nothing about our true financial situation...
@Juan Suero I don’t believe crypto will ever be a viable currency. You keep putting words in my mouth....
To be fair, the next two bills are 2 trillion over 8 years, so 250 billion each per year.
