- This week, we’re speaking with Fr. Patrick Summers, the District Superior of the Society of Saint Pius X in Asia about Ecumenism. Ecumenism, as we have seen in Episode 23, was one of the driving factors behind the Novus Ordo Mass - but today we’ll explore the other effects of Ecumenism on the Catholic Church, and how, instead of being the new way to evangelize, as was blindly promised, threatens to turn Catholicism into a schizophrenic religion.

Ecumenism: The salt has lost its savor.
Yes, and, as GK Chesterton says in his book on Saint Thomas Aquinas, ' If the world becomes too worldly, the Church can intervene to bring it closer to the Church again but if the Church loses it's savour, who can bring the Church back into holiness? Not the world. This is the salt of the earth parable. If we are no longer completely different from the world but rather similar to the world, we have lost our saltiness and there is no one to bring us back into holiness except the great SSPX.
This was one of the most heartrending episodes in this series. Sancta Maria, Mater Ecclesiae, ora pro nobis. Sancte Ioseph, protector Ecclesiae, ora pro nobis. Sancte Michael, splendor et fortitudo militantis Ecclesiae, ora pro nobis.

Amazing and helpful! From experience, in speaking with modern Muslims and Lutherans, whenever we came down to difference in doctrine they would say, "Well lets focus instead on what brings us to union" or "Well that difference is so small (whether Jesus was the God or not) - we are pretty much in union "
"Pretty much in union" as though we already were unified but with a slight unimportant difference - this phrase was so shocking.
The devil was smart in introducing this new way of thinking. May God be merciful to us and bring about more good from this to crush the head of Satan and save souls!

Back in 1928 we was told by pope pius. That the church ⛪ is going into wrong. How true he was please look at the church in Rome. I feel lost. I feel my shepherd pope Francis is taken us down a slipping road. You go to mass today and you dont feel Catholic. Over 60 years the church ⛪ is more empty than ever before. And the bishops in Rome not all of them have fallen into grate sin .it needs a deep clean out. Our pope as left things upto us to clean church ⛪ 🙏

Did any of you see a video where a idol of Ganesh (not sure of the spelling - the monkey god) was brought into a Catholic church in India in an official procession? I was totally shocked, but the crowd in the pews seemed to accept it as something great...I think that it was recent. Stephan in Ottawa

The thing is the church has moved towards the protestants not the other way around. We are the one true church we don't need to change.
I am not RC, but have listened to a number of these podcasts and find them interesting. In this focus, could I humbly suggest that this Society could have some sympathy for Protestants and Orthodox who for whatever reason have problems with the papal system? Are you or the mainstream RC the true representation of the one holy catholic church? I very much want to see the oneness prayer of Jesus made visible.
Regarding the story of Archibishop Lefebvre beginning around 33:35, what should the Church have done in such a situation instead of doing the ceremony before the Protestant and Muslim leaders arrived?
I was taught ecumenism is connecting Christian denominations, like Lutheran, Methodist, Evangelicals, etc. Whereas, interfaith dialogue is connecting with other faiths like Muslim, Buddha, etc. for peace in social circumstances( to avoid war, etc).
What has happened is again quite sinister: the 2 or 3 generations of those who had been evangelized into the Catholic Faith 60+ yrs ago now have legitimacy to reject Jesus Christ & return to the paganism of their pre-evangelized forefathers; especially now in the 21st century. It cancels out completely our Lord's command to evangelize throughout the world. My my what a serious situation we're in. Can't re-evangelize.
I just can't imagine how insulted the Archbishop was by the modern understanding of ecumenism around the second vatican council. Here he was at someone who had spent his life, converting thousands of people, and then he gets told that these people don't need to be converted anymore. It's an insult to his life's work
I do not understand changing and giving up the religion of Jesus’ foundation to the Apostles in order to gain bodies that will tithe is anything to honor? So the Pope can claim converts to the HRC+AC.
We should be strengthening the liturgy and traditions Jesus instituted Himself through the Apostles etc.
Hopefully one day you can explain why you believe “souls can be saved in a religion other than the Catholic religion (Protestantism, Islam, Buddhism, etc.)”.
