  • I first tried the factory dust system that came on the saw using a Shop Vacuum. Way too much suction! Also the thin plastic cover under the table instantly sucked up into the recess made for the air to move through, closing it off. And Way Too Noisy! Plus I think it would be hard on the vac to let it run for hours at a time Like you might need for scroll sawing.

Interesting idea, Richard. The plastic film has come unstuck from my Excalibur, and rather than just glue it back on, I thought I'd see if anyone had come up with a better solution. This one certainly gives me food for thought.

I purchased this amazing saw several years ago. After getting it out of the box I mistakenly thought the clear plastic piece under the table was part of the packaging. Started to remove it from the saw, stopped and took a closer look. Smiled at myself when I realized it was part of the dust collection system. I was never really happy with the dust collector, had to keep a pair of tweezers handy to remove small pieces of wood that became trapped under the table.

Yes, I thought it was part of the packaging too! Fortunately it resisted my initial attempt to remove it.
