Leaving behind the sunny streets of Montpellier, I’m hauling a trailer full of brand-new vans bound for Brussels. The sky is a clear blue as I navigate through the city’s outskirts, heading north on the highway. The load isn’t as heavy as some others I’ve carried, but these vans are valuable, so I need to keep a smooth and steady pace to ensure a safe delivery.
The first part of the journey takes me through the beautiful countryside of southern France. The vineyards and olive groves of Occitanie roll by as I settle into the drive. The Mediterranean sun casts a warm glow over the landscape, and I can feel the road beneath the tires as I maintain a steady speed. Traffic is light, and the drive is peaceful, with the hum of the engine and the sight of endless green fields keeping me company.
As I continue north, the terrain begins to change. The vineyards give way to the wide plains of the Rhône Valley, where the road is busy with other trucks and travelers. Passing through Lyon, I navigate the intricate network of highways with care, mindful of the vans I’m transporting. The city’s skyline fades in my rearview mirrors as I push onward, the miles steadily adding up.
The journey takes me through the heart of France, where the flat landscapes of Burgundy stretch out on either side. The golden fields of wheat are dotted with small villages, their church spires visible from the highway. The air here is cooler, a reminder that I’m heading further north. I make a brief stop at a rest area, grabbing a quick meal and checking the load to ensure everything is secure before continuing on.
Crossing into Belgium, the weather starts to shift. The clear skies of the south are replaced by the overcast, grey clouds of northern Europe. The roads are wet from recent rain, and I adjust my driving to keep a safe grip on the road. The landscape is now dotted with forests and industrial areas as I approach Brussels. The traffic picks up as I near the city, with more cars and trucks sharing the road.
Entering Brussels, the urban environment takes over. The city is bustling, with a mix of modern buildings and historic architecture lining the streets. Navigating through the traffic requires focus, but soon enough, I reach the delivery point. Carefully backing the truck into the unloading bay, I feel a sense of accomplishment as the vans are offloaded.
This journey from the sunny south of France to the bustling heart of Belgium has been a long one, filled with beautiful scenery and varied landscapes. With the job complete, I take a moment to reflect before heading out on my next adventure, ready to see where the road takes me next.
