    I absolutely love this - a trip down memory lane. My late father's boat is briefly captured on her side to mooring in Ocean Village. That boat was named after me and I was thrilled and moved to spot her. This video has brought back so many happy memories of years gone by. Thank you so much for posting this on here!

    Wow amazing! It's crazy to see the old McDonald's on the corner by Bargate again. Apparently they closed shop because there was a rent increase they didn't wanna pay. They also were known for giving food to the homeless in the evening

      @Quagmi  4 роки тому +2

      I used to go in there most times when I went into town. It was always busy, so I was surprised when they closed it! Sounds like the council shot themselves and the homeless in the foot by increasing the rent

    I remember in the 80s when Ocean Village first opened, it was so cool with great modern shops. It was so quiet though, they quickly closed down and then place seemed like a ghost town. I also remember Bud's bar near the Mayflower theatre - that was pretty cool too in the mid-80s.

    Wow fascinating bit of film. Before going on the beer, we used to kickstart our weekend evenings at Ocean Village in the arcade which was half way down on the left, with Laser Quest above it. I remember the T-shirt shop at the front corner outside, bit colourful shop with Iron Maiden images all over the place. Even went to that cinema to watch The Fugitive. Had a mate who lived in the apartments near by, really great times, i was trying to see if i could ID anyone's car i knew, Ahh well, i'd turn back the clock in a heartbeat.

    I was too young to remember 1993 but I remember a couple of years later hearing Oxygen IV in the shopping centre just as in this video. Spent a lot of time in Ocean Village, in that gem shop, the little arcade room, and the big arcade up top. Simpler, less stressful times I wish I could revisit, if only to hang out with my dad who took us, who died a few years ago. Over a decade later off to Bevois Valley and the Dungeon to begin many a cheap Weds night. Videos like this show how time moves so quickly, very emotion inducing. Thanks for uploading it

      Sometimes after college would cross Itchen Bridge to Floaters club which was the old floating bridge or go to the Solent Suite beneath Southampton Guildhall for a rock disco.

When we were kids we used to innocently stand under the beam which high vehicles would activate telling them to divert left along Wessex Lane.
