Fish first came to the notice of music fans as the front man for neo progressive rock band Marillion. The band had secured a recording deal with EMI records in late 1982 and released their debut album Script For A Jesters Tear in 1983. Further albums including Fugazi and the massively popular Misplaced Childhood album which spawned a number of top twenty singles including Kayleigh ensured that Marillion became on of the biggest British rock bands at the time. The bands final album featuring Fish was Clutching At Straws. Again the band toured in support of that album and following touring duties again began work on the proposed follow up. During the sessions for the follow up Fish left the band and commenced on a solo career that continues to this dayThis DVD is the companion release to the Return To Childhood CD which was recorded in Holland during the twentieth anniversary tour in November 2005 to celebrate the release of the Marillion album Misplaced Childhood. The DVD includes the full performance of the Misplaced Childhood album and also other solo material from Fish such as Credo and Big Wedge alongside Marillion classics Market Square Heroes and Incommunicado.

Fish's greatness is not purely as a singer, but as a poet - the singing is just a vessel, and the vessel of choice.

Filmed in Pontardawe , South Wales and a place Fish has adopted as his Welsh home (Given there a about 20 hairdressers there !). Thanks for a great gifg Fish . I started watching Marillion in 1981 seeing them in a pub in Bristol. I then saw the Script tour in Cardiff and travelled without any money to watch them at the Hammersmith Odean. I had to sell outside photographs of their Cardiff gig I had taken and printed to get in but amazingly I got backstage and was given a photopass- Thanks Fish

@nf707575 Yes, he had cysts I think on his vocal chords, thankfully he's bounced back better than ever. Saw him live (acoustic) just before Christmas, and was blown away by the gig, first time I'd seen him live since Marillion's last gig with him in 1988(?).

This was before Fish had an operation on his vocal chords, if you look for recent live clips you'll see he's back to his former fantastic self :)

Only a ghost of the singer he once was. No idea whose idea it was to put this on a DVD, it just records the downfall of what once was one of my favorite singers. I think I am going to put up the Lorely DVD from Marillion, just for old times sake...
