- Changing the evaporative purge valve on a 2017 Ford Explorer Police Interceptor Utility(PIU) is a relatively easy task that can be accomplished with basic tools and some patience.
In this video I will show you step by step, from beginning to end, how to replace it. First you will need to locate the valve, which is typically located in the engine bay. Once you have access to the valve, you will need to disconnect the hoses and electrical connections that are attached to it. Then, you will need to unscrew the old valve and replace it with the new one. Finally, you will need to reconnect the hoses and electrical connections before you can start the engine. With some patience and the right tools, you should be able to complete this DIY video with ease.
An OBDII reader is also necessary to read and clear this trouble code from your vehicle's PCM.
In my case, the code was P0456 - EVAP System Very Small Leak Detected.

Thanks brotha, I'm getting the same code but my Truck is running fine.
I'll replace the Valve today.😊
Thanks for watching!
My apologies! I did get a new mic. And lesson learned, don’t try to talk over the engine. I can try and add subtitles if you still need
Is the DTC intermittent or was it a hard fault? Starting to get the check engine light for this. I'm also experiencing poor gas mileage around 14-16 MPG.
Hey, yes, my was intermittent and got progressively worse. It’s a fairly easy and cheap fix.
@@mrtrytofixithow did you know it was the purge valve solenoid? Is there a TSB for it?
What were the symptoms on your auto that you replace the evap solenoid. Thanks
Thanks for watching! Fits I was getting poor gas mileage (14-15mpg) at regular driving. Then about 6 months later the check engine light came on indicating “small evap leak”. After swapping it, mpg went back to sort of normal at 16-18mpg. I like to think those were related, lol
Dude speak up we can't hear you
