@gospel4303 only people at fault are the police. Its up to them to call the medical examiner after the investigation is completed. That's it. You don't move a body if it's called on scene. Meaning they have passed. Its common for bodies to sit on the scene hours until everything is wrapped up.

He was calling the corner to determine if they needed to come. The corner said no because I had provided information that she was a dialysis patient under the doctor care. The police then explained that the funeral home could pick up her body. Yep they are always nonchalant when its a black person. Once I called ambulance for a black guy on the grround shivering because he was suffering from sun stroke. The ambulance people didn't want to take him to the hospital. They offered a taxi. I said no because the guy was not able to make sane decisions in his current condition. They eventually took him. I was right. LBJ kept him n for 3 days. He was close to heart attack. Did you know you cannot file a complaint against Fire Dept EMS unless you get an affidavit? This is a disgrace. I wanted to file a complaint for this. Another time a Fire EMS person actually questioned me about my wanting to go to hospital after my defibrillator nearly went off. Off course I did not have health insurance and questioned her wonderful insurance being in the fire brigade. She proceeded to tell me hers wasn't very good, as if that makes it any better. Some of them are real nasty. Others are amazing though.

You have no idea the bullshit we deal with unless you've ever spent a 24+ hour shift on a truck, a lot of times from people who have no real medical emergency, they just like calling 911 because to them we are just Uber drivers to show up at their beckon call. We HAVE to reccomend people find their own transportation a lot of times, especially if there is no justification for transport by ambulance. Because when a REAL emergency pops off, people cry that we don't get their fast enough, blame it on racism half the time, when in reality our resources our tied up dealing with some fck head who just decided to call 911 for some dumb sht that doesn't really need a 911 response.
And the hospitals have it even worse, completely over run with habitual patients, many of whom have no real emergency, but they think they're particular crisis that day requires the whole world to stop for them. Then you wonder why Grandma has to wait so long to get seen at the ER when she's sick or something happens to her

It is sad and unfortunate but oftentimes when someone dies at home, the police have to call time of death and wait for the ME to come out. After that, then you arrange for a funeral home to retrieve the body and sometimes it does take hours. Happened when my mom passed at home unexpectedly years ago.
Now, if you pass away in transit to the hospital by EMS, they will take the body to the hospital and alert the family, as in the case of my sister that passed away unexpectedly. Idk why they do that but they do. I know with my mom, they tried CPR for a good hour before they decided they couldn’t do more before they left. I don’t feel they should’ve been threatened for trying to cover their daughter’s body but maybe they didn’t want anything disturbed until the ME arrived.

The reason why, it’s not bc of heartlessness by the officers. The reason why is bc the coroner has to examine body as it lies there. It cannot be disturbed. If you touch the body it can ruin the investigation and the perpetrators may get away. You touch them, maybe your dna through tears, sweat, hair is on the body and now the police are interrogating you and what if they try to pin the murder on you. Also, how many people get killed in Houston, a coroner can only be at so many places.

Wow😮 I cant believe how their daughter was treated and how the family was treated. I've never in my life ever heard or known EMS to not rush someone into an ambulance and get them to a hospital immediately to find out whats wrong ESPECIALLY in an emergency type of situation. Then EMS left and left her body on the ground like that for hours??? Then the family is being threatened and disrespected by law enforcement. God knows in Heaven this aint right and they all deserve some type of punishment. Y'all are sworn in to protect and serve and they didn't do any protecting, or serving to this young ladies life. Her life could have been saved if they would have put her in the ambulance and got her into the ER immediately. There was no compassion. No concern for that young ladies life, no regard, no compassion, no empathy whatsoever. If it would have been one of their children. They would feel the same. My heart, prayers, and condolences go out to the entire family. My heart hurts for them😢💔 This was not right AT ALL. If you ask me my opinion. All of them including the EMS workers should have lost their job that day. You dont deserve to have that job title. It's clear that these type of people are in it strictly for a check. Not doing this type of work because they are compassionate, caring, and understanding. It's evident. Not only did they fail the young lady but they failed the family of this young lady and y'all threatened them in the midst of them losing their loved one. God SEE'S ALL and EVERYONE WILL EVENTUALLY REAP WHAT THEY SOW. YOU BEST BELIEVE THAT😢🥺💔🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Many of the times, after a person becomes deceased anywhere outside of the hospital the body is no longer the families. It kind of becomes the property of the state until it is released again to the family.. The family can’t touch the body, most of the time they don’t want the family to see the body. After they deemed the person deceased, they have to wait for the coroner to examine the body for the body to be released to the hospital or the morgue. Many EMS workers will transport although the person maybe be deceased to prevent a body being laid out for long hours but some of them will not. This is part of their protocol. But it is sad and hard to see, they should have transported! I know this same exact thing happened with my grandmother they worked on her until they couldn’t but still transported her to the hospital although we knew she was gone. But this was not acceptable. It almost as if they would have been better off taking her to the hospital. At least she wouldn’t have been left on the ground. They treated this family inhuman as if they didn’t love this person who has passed away in front fo them. There was no empathy or sympathy. The way the EMS and police handled this was very unprofessional! There is no excuse for their behavior! Also I would dispute that ambulance bill because they did nothing, not even transport. This is why people would rather drive themselves if they can to the hospital. I remember back in the day an ambulance bill was no more than 400 bucks, now 20k. That’s definitely inflation.

Sorry for your loss, but there was not anything unusual about your experience. Because of the manner your daughter died, her death will automatically be considered a homicide until the medical examiner says different. Her body belongs to the medical examiner, and no one has the right to touch or move her except if she has a doctor who will sign her death certificate. The body must stay where it is with police guarding it until the medical examiner comes, where it will be taken to the morgue. The authorities did not do anything wrong but follow protocol. They have no authority to dictate how fast the medical examiner gets there. I guarantee you that the police had better things to do with their time than to guard a dead body.

The actions, or more accurately, the non actions of the paramedic crew is so confusing to me. I don’t really understand just pulling the lady out of the car and laying her on the street. The unit is only 10 feet from the car she was sitting in, so why wasn’t the patient who was obviously in severe respiratory distress immediately put in the ambulance where all the life saving equipment, respiratory and cardiac drugs is readily available???? The life saving work should have been done in the controlled environment of that ambulance. This was 100% a hospital transport run with life saving procedures being done enroute to the emergency room. The emergency room DOCTOR would then make the call to end life saving procedures after they had done all they could to save the patient. My experience is 26 years as a special skills paramedic in a major U.S. city. My superiors would have had our asses if my crew had handled a run like they did. The family deserved better. Side note, in a major city like Houston, an ambulance would never transport a body to the morgue or a funeral home. An emergency unit will only go to a hospital emergency room.

When we lost my sister, in the Dollar General parking lot, she laid there for hours. We begged them to at least cover her up. They told us that because it was a death that no one witnessed it was being treated as a crime scene. She laid there from 3:34 pm until almost 7 pm.

This is sickening in many levels.. The EMS and Police department need to ve held accountable for adding more pain to an already distraught Mother, Father, children and family who literally had just lost their loved one.. but even worse, they made the family feel humiliated and filled them with not just more pain but also justified anger that they treated their beautiful daughter/mother like her life was worth anything,.. Everything about how this played out saddens me and breaks my heart that beautiful lady who is no longer with us, for her parents, for her children and loved ones to have gone through😢.. Rest in peace Beautiful lady❤ I send my condolences to her parents/children and family, may God help You heal for your loss.. may he give You glory in holding those who had no humanity , no empathy nor sympathy towards your daughter.. Karma will take care of those people..❤❤❤❤
