  • Because I am such a brooch lover my necklaces can get a little neglected, so after falling in love with this cotton pique fabric from Mood, I decided I needed to make a new dress just to showcase necklaces!

    But wait there's more! A PO BOX finally wahoo!
    First, a disclaimer: So many of you have kindly offered to send me things, including vintage items you may have inherited, and I am so honored you would think of me and of course I do adore vintage treasures, however, unfortunately I only have so much storage space currently! So there is a chance that if something just wont work for me, or doesn't fit me etc, that I may not be able to keep all of your lovely things. Please only send things if you are okay with the possibility that I may donate items I just cannot keep. If you would prefer I put things that I can't keep into the TCH Etsy shop to help raise funds for me and the channel, please specify this in a note or letter in your parcel. Thank you so much!

      same. my ADHD just soothes. the music alone would be too little and annoy me, but ade her voice, fast but not too loud and a nice stable timbre, and i can just chill.

    That dress is breathtaking. I never realized how important a neckline was to a necklace. It's not silly to make something to showcase something else you love that have a lot of, especially since you have the skill to do so.

  • @debiapostol
    @debiapostol 2 роки тому +52

    Another stunning creation. Wouldn't we ALL absolutely love that dress?!? As a more 'mature' woman I find that neckline choices are so limited in fast-fashion. The choices are either so (plungingly) low as to be unwearable, or simply to high to showcase the necklaces I have ... THIS is a beautiful alternative!

    I absolutely agree with needing the right neckline for a necklace. I am a bead artist and make over the top necklaces for sale as well as for my own wardrobe. (btw yes I make moth and other insect/creature jewelry) I am always disappointed when there are design elements to a top/dress that can never be worn with a necklace, ie breast pockets on t-shirts, prints that only appear on the front and not the back, those damn plastic "jewels" glued around the neckline and then there are the actual neckline itself. Kudo's to you for making your own dresses. I do that historically but not in modern clothing. Thanks for doing this channel it is a lovely break from my "day job".

    I don't think we'll ever get tired of the black dresses. This is one I would absolutely wear if I wasn't too lazy to make it. Such a flattering shape. I think this neckline would pair well with the sort of trumpet shape of the skirt from the lemon print dress as well, for some reason. I could also see this neckline paired with ¾ sleeves that end in fold-back pointed cuffs, so there's another spiky angle at the end of the sleeve. Maybe add a little more volume to the sleeve cap as well, to make that area puff/spike a bit. The Halloween potential of this neckline is considerable, so I look forward to seeing what else you do with it.

    That neckline! and the shallow V neck on your dress in the Intro and Closing are both wonderful to show off necklaces, but of course the angled one draws more attention to the necklace, neck and face just beautifully. Bravo!
    The squared back neckline is so good to match it and be just out of the ordinary.

  • @lynn858
    @lynn858 2 роки тому +1

    I would want to examine your hem and talk about it. But not from a critical point of view. I just love seeing how things go together, the variations that happen because of materials, and I absolutely respect people putting the time and energy into the visible parts and structurally sound for the less visible parts. Yeah, beautiful interior finishing is lovely, if you’re in the mood to do it, but if it’s going to inhibit you from getting a project done, or reduce your interest in starting at all… that’s just dumb.
    The great thing, is I DO get to examine your hems and it’s not invasive or weird. :) Thank you Internet friend.

    If it's just the blade on your serger thats broken (and not the mechanism) you can get replacement top blade for around $25 (bottom blades were $5). It was also very easy to fit. FYI the bottom blades are mild steel, and are designed to wear out, leaving the top blade (hardened steel) sharp.
    I found with normal use, I replace the bottom blade once a year, and I replaced the top blade after 10 years, just because it seemed like a good idea.

    !!!!! I've had an apostrophe!! Lightning has struck my brain!!!! It's the BLADE that has always turned me off about sergers (it's so final, if you sneezed and shifted something, it's ruined forever, no amount of threadpicking can fix it, and I have trouble machine sewing in a straight line on the best of days), now I know I need to find a serger with a busted blade :P

      On my serger I have an option to turn the blade off (I’m not at that part of the video so idk if this was addressed)

      Epiphany.
      And yes! Serger blades are terrifyingly final and i have commitment issued!
      But they do come with the option to disengage it now, so I am halfway to talking myself into buying one

    So stunning!! I'd order it immediately if I ran across it shopping. And I completely agree; one can never have too many black dresses (or too much black clothing, in general)

      Thank you Hannah! I already have a plan for another black dress I'd like to make...😅🖤

      @@TheClosetHistorian any time I go shopping (which isn't often) I sometimes tell myself I'm gonna go with some color this time around....I inevitably leave with mostly/all black things 💁 the heart wants what it wants

    WaBAM! That opening reveal shot nearly knocked me out of my chair! That has got to be the single most flattering garment I have seen you make so far. I need to get my sh*t together and finish developing my bodice block...

    Oh My God... this dress!!!! You look bloody phenomenal! I've dreams of a dress like this in a purple or burgundy velvet.... I know I shouldn't do this to myself, but god do I love velvet 😂😂

    This dress is pretty! I’m glad I’m not the only one that if I find something I like I want it in every color possible😅 “I don’t know how to date” is so relatable, btw. I met my person online because my mom said I needed at least friends. After marriage and kids it is weird to think that it worked so well. And can we get a black dress tour? I can’t be the only one that wants to see it.

      Thank you Ashley! I was hoping it would work for pendants and more collar like necklaces ✨
