Just sharing my experience, the reason i came here is because i too discovered that hair carries energy. However i noticed this after i started washing my hair with homemade shampoo, which is from nature and chemical free. It took about 1.5 months for my hair to detox all the bad things away. I didn't feel like a carried bad energy but i did feel like my hair was switched "off". Its almost like putting a cork in a bottle, there was no way for the earths magnetic field to make a connection to my hair. 1.5 months after starting natural hair washing, and my hair is soooo energised that when i hold it, i feel like I'm grounded.
