I love how protective Lucius is of Stede in this episode. Lucius is a very sarcastic (and bitchy!) guy but the moment Stede tells him he's doing this FOR ED, so Ed doesn't leave, Lucius tries his hardest to make the outing seem fun despite
A.) him not liking the outdoors/hiking either
B.) him not being good at sounding sincere
Lucius might be my favorite character as well! Boy skates through life doing fuck-all aboard the ship, but because of that he sees _everything._ He's kind, but bravely and brutally honest by default. Much respect.
That nun is amazing. She's down for murder and immediately accepted Jim and called them the right pronouns. Icon.
Also, I just love Lucius more with every episode
This is my favorite episode of the series so far. It’s just such a chill episode, characters getting to know each other.
Also, Lucius just straight SPITTING facts at Ed had me in complete shock, first time watching. The fact he had the balls to not just call THE BLACKBEARD a dick right to his face, but also say what we’re all thinking and tell him to act on his obvious feelings, AND not even back down from what he said: “you can stab me in the face now.”. I paused it, and just started clapping.

You pausing it right before they say "co-captains", to yell that they should admit they wanna be co-captains, had me screaming!! Lol. Every time you pause right before something good is about to happen to speculate, I'm like "10 more seconds, babe! Just push play 😭".

"How do you not get drawn to him?" Yeah, Ed and the rest of the Revenge crew can attest to Stede's innocent charisma. ❤
I love that the almost kiss between Olu and Jim happened because Samson and Vico thought that that characters were headed in that direction and decided to do a take with a full on kiss. I think the almost kiss is better for the over all story progression, but the fact that the actors thought that was what was happening between Olu and Jim speaks to the amazing casting and writing of the show. So many times couples in shows have no chemistry or the writing of the relationships just feels shoe horned in for the sake of pleasing the viewer demographic that wants romance. But this show has 3... 3! queer relationships that not only seem entirely natural, but make you root for them.
I love how Adam asks if something might happen then 10 minutes later gets his answer 😂
(Because you specifically asked, no further spoilers) JIm's not gone from the show, just off on their own mini-quest of sorts.
You called it in the very first episode: it´s absolutely a show where you fall in love with all of the characters the more you get to know them. Such a gem. And every single actor brings so much to the table and makes falling for them so easy. People have mentioned Taika´s and Rhys´ improv in the campfire scene, and Vico and Samson (Jim and Oluwande) also improvised a kiss in one of the takes, so this almost kiss happened. Oluwande´s reaction to Jim´s Nana is gold, but that whole outing in search for nourishment/healing/family (back story) and finding all of it is so damn good, too. Loving your reactions and how much on board and excited you are for all of it (and yes, Lucius rules) ❤️

Stede is a ray of sunshine 🥺 i love him so much! I just love how lucius went off on Ed, he just doesn't gaf that he's talking to mf Blackbeard. LOVE HIM.
Idk if anyone mentioned this, but the restaurant convo between stede and ed is an improv! I love Rhys and Taika so much, they're taking over my life lmao

my favourite part is izzy complaining to spanish jackie about ed and stede. like when the boy you like likes someone else, it’s sooo funny.
Lucius was by far my favorite character upon my first viewing of the show and he's still one of my top faves. (He'd be number one had I not caught a severe case of Izzy Hands disease after subsequent viewings of the show). Also, his actor, Nathan Foad, is such a treasure. You should totally watch some of his interviews once you've finished the show. He's so funny.
The fact that the shitty petrified orange is Stede's favourite thing though? because it was the treasure he discovered on the day out with Ed - i cannot!
And Jim and Olu... they are SO perfectly sweet together
Lucius is a KING… but Oluwande is therefore an emperor or something because he understands that Jim has to figure stuff out, and trusts that they understand him… 😭❤❤❤

the 'blackbeard's bar and grill and other delicacies and delights and fishing equipment' improv is iconic, i'm so glad they paired it with lucius' live slug reaction because he's the perfect audience insert in that scene! it got cut down a bit here, but i love the 'a dollop of milk and seven sugars' improv almost as much because on a textual level, it's adorable that stede knows how ed takes his tea, but on a metatextual level, it's hilarious that taika accidentally railroaded his character into having just an obscene sweet tooth by letting rhys decide what blackbeard's perfect cup of tea has in it.🫖
