- EDIT: it seems the black bars that I mentioned DO appear on this DVD version, in 4:3 ratio. At the time of this video, it was likely a fullscreen setting on my TV that made it fill the screen. Sorry for my mixup.
The Maxx was finally released on DVD in 2009. Just found out myself not long after its release, so I got my copy. Figured I'd make a little review video - maybe there're plenty other fans out there that don't know that it's available on disc (only through Amazon or eBay).
Here's a quick look at how it is and what you get.
My description of the show is a little quick and I leave out a TON of important details, but I didn't want to go on about it too long. If you found this video, you probably already know everything about the show anyway :)

A must watch underrated series
Had no idea they ever released this on DVD!
The dvd has the black bars on each side, actually. I noticed the scene where Julie is looking at herself in the mirror, was cropped to fit your wide-screen. Either you had your TV automatically set to do that or you got a cropped format. Your DVD cover looks exactly like mine, so I'm figuring your TV was set that way. When I watched it a few hours ago, I was fine with the black bars, because this show wasn't originally formatted for wide-screen being a 1995 made series, so the black bars aren't avoidable. But man, oh man, the picture quality is delicious. The colors ARE bright, and they DO pop and shine. Interesting fun fact; Tony Fucile is the voice of The Crappon, and the station Cop at the beginning of the series. He was also a senior animator on the show, and was a character designer/senior animator/producer on the Incredibles.
I see what you mean. That must've been an automatic setting on the TV like you said. Thanks for letting me know!
My childhood favorite
It just arrived delivered by FedEx today- I'm giddy!
I knew something was missing from my VHS! The hammerhead episode.
Dude, loving the channel. Reviews and tutorials are great too! And how am I not surprised a mastermind behind one of my favorite late 90’s bands is a fan of The Maxx 😁💛
Love it. Finally ordered it yesterday.
Never knew this series has a dvd release
I may add this to my collection if I can pick it up out of the wild
How the hell can I find this in 2023???
It’s still available on Amazon, eBay and even digital download on Apple iTunes Movies.
I bought this from Amazon, and they added it to my Amazon Digital library, (in addition to the physical copy) so I can watched it without having to remember where I put the DVD.
You posted this a few years ago so I hope it's not too late. Can you submit audio-comments for each episode? Or maybe you can send me and we would arrange something for that. Just the comments, buddy, think about it, OK?
🤔 For those wondering I just bought the dvd for myself and it’s brilliant. But it is NOT in 16:9 aspect ratio. He made a mistake. Bringing this up on my phone while playing it native on my screen reveals a horizontal warp from whatever player he is using. It’s being stretched to fit.
See me personally I don’t mind 4:3 because I collect old tube TVs. But yeah naturally out of the box it is indeed NOT cut to 16:9. Another reason I’m A ok with that is because for almost all 4:3 movies and tv shows a crop is indeed needed to perform a 16:9 image. Aka severing the original cut of your media.
Just leaving this here for info.
I’m absolutely hyped this is still available in late 2023 !! ❤️
Yes, sorry about that mistake in the video. The black bars thing was caught some years ago by someone else, but I couldn't edit it out then (this was shown on my old 1080 plasma where it stretched to fill the screen). I posted a comment about the mistake, but I'm sure that easily gets missed.
I've gone ahead and taken that little part out so hopefully I don't confuse anyone else. Thanks for posting
Your video quality is great. You should make other review video!
Cool
How many episodes have?
So it is good to watch The maxx on the dvd? Because I think to buy the dvd. The Maxx is a great animated series.
Yes! Grab it on DVD if when you can. Or I’m pretty sure you can buy the digital download on iTunes as well. Great show to rewatch!
How much was it?..I really want.
The DVD is on Amazon right now for $17.99. Amazon has the download too for $18.99 for the whole season. Its on eBay too for $19.87. There's the digital download around too that you can buy.

Hah, okay.
Won't happen on eBay or Amazon bro, get real. It's the 21st century.
I've been using Amazon and eBay for 15 years and have never had an incident. Because they're trusted sites.
Porco-Dio FIlm exacly, 21st century and you can get your laptop camera hacked and get spied on
+sojuwannadrink1 It's the only way you can get the DVD really, so it's up to you.

You're way too paranoid man. You're not going to get your information stolen because of a transaction on Amazon, come on now.
Your decision though.
Porco-Dio FIlm I did time in the service. I believe I am aloud a little bit of paranoia sir
