What I love about your sketchbook from this video, is that it's not restricted by any boundaries or rules, and for that reason it is exciting! You have a range of styles in your art, and again I find that way more interesting that someone who only knows how to paint in one style. I love how you have stuck things into it too. One of my favourite paintings in your sketchbook is the telephone with the words 'Karma Calling'. It made me laugh! Your sketchbook is full of colour and interesting art. I would be proud if my sketchbook looked half as good as yours does! I will take a tip from your video, and cut up my loose artwork to paste into my sketchbook. It's a good way to collate my past art along with many other thing i've done. I was thinking of adding a page here and there with small paintings cut and pasted into my current sketchbook as if they were paintings in an art gallery. That idea excites me. Your work often inspires me, and has given me a new focus for my own art. God bless you and all those you love. Have a great weekend.
Hi again, just a quick question. I joined Skillshare today, and found videos by you on there, which really made me happy! Are you still teaching on there?
I absolutely love you artwork .it’s a great influence to me. I live in the US. I’ve dabbled in art my whole life. I was in medicine as my career . Now that I’m retired I have more time for it. Thank you so much
Your sketchbook art is really beautiful! I love the page with the bunny on a surreal landscape. Such a great idea to glue black watercolor paper into the sketchbook...great way to use metallics. Also love the collage and sticker ideas. I recently bought some cute small art journals and a mini sticker printer…the creative ideas you have in this video are ones I’ll definitely be using. Thanks!
I love your style! I also really like that you didn't try to make a perfect sketchbook for the purpose of a video like a lot of other artists are doing. I look forward to seeing more of your videos!
What I especially learned from you that is is very nice to make the left and the right pages belong to each other. Mostly in the color schemes. And you have a lot of nice ideas !! Thanks !
Hey Mel , firstly I want to congratulate you for completing this sketchbook. Every page is so colourful and creative ,I enjoyed the whole journey of this sketchbook with you because I have watched many of paintings ideas from this sketchbook in your videos,so it is my all time favourite, those experimental page are really looking great ,I loved the lamp illustration, strawberries, mice ,leaves ,flowers and your colourful spread pages, those all are enough to puss us that we need to fill our sketchbooks right now. Thanks for sharing this amazing tour, Now we are so excited for a new starting,🎨 Till then take care and Have a creative day🎆
Lovely. Nice variety of styles and tools you used. I like the integration of line art and am interested in how you managed the picture with flowers made with water soluble pencils as I've not had much success with them and it was effective! The watercolour paintings of course look fabulous too (but too difficult and time consuming for me!)
I guess artists are perfectionists, it makes me sad how you do a wonderful painting and then say you weren't happy with it. I can't even do that. I just wish you could see through my eyes. Really loved this sketchbook, and I like the square shape!
Well I suppose we are always our own worst critics. We look at our art for many hours while creating it, always with a critical view of "what can I add? What is it still missing?" and sometimes it just doesn't turn out how we wanted. But that's ok :) I don't think there's any artists on this planet who absolutely love all of their art. If you don't like something, you can try it again or just leave it and move on to the next thing 😊
@@VisualMind Thank you for the reply. I learned something new like artists look at their art with a critical view, "what can I add?" I like it that we can move on with the next thing. I can relate to this while doing Math, being stuck with one problem so leaving it and doing something else. Also, being critical about progress because even if I did a lot it feels like haven't done a tiny part of what needs to be done, lots and lots of content still unexplored.
@@VisualMind Thnak you for you answer. But how did you manage to have it "glue" to your mage without damaging your painting ? Did youi Iron it ? In my country they dont stick do much to the page :(
I really admire how much you play around and experiment.
