Being a victim is an externalization of power. Once you become aware of labeling yourself as a victim, the key is to reclaim your power by taking responsibility for it. We create our reality and knowing it is key. Great video Leo.

I watched the first one, when I first started watching your videos a little over a year ago. I was swimming in victim's mentality and felt completely at the mercy of life situations. I didn't realize that my victim's mentality was actually allowing me to avoid responsibility. It was serving my ego. Since then, life has been much lighter. But this video was good because it got me to do a once-over to weed out any remaining threads of victimhood. I have a few in relation to the limitations I have as a parent. And a ton relative to finances. Thank you again! :)

I realise that from a very young age I always felt like the world was against me. I was ill, kids bullied me and my family situation was very unstable so to say. I always felt like a victim of life, that life will always turn against me, that happiness is something for others. Like a Song stuck in my head, playing again and again. And I still feel that today, even though things have changed. As if everything is just further proof for this believe. as soon as something goes wrong inside of me a feeling of "i knew it, always me" comes up and I get anxious and depressed, because I wish it werent so.
And it isnt so. I now realize that I am no poor victim, that sometimes shit just happens. It is just life and has nothing to do with me being a victim or anything else.
also playing the victim stops me from taking Action, and Not acting is of course the best way to stay stuck.
Thank you Leo. Sometimes the truth hurts but I am really thankful for the effort you put into your Videos. They have helped me lots.

  • @MsDevilbunny007

Wow, I just forced myself to do the exercise and I was having trouble to even come up with a limiting belief. I suspected that my ego was telling me that I'm all perfect and shit, so I really thought about it and picked something. I didn't expect to have proper answers to those questions, so I was really surprised that I wrote several pages full of evidence that I'm holding myself back in that specific area (for me it is money). Really got some powerful insight, so if anyone thinks that he or she doesn't need to do the exercise, DO IT!! It's really worth your while. :)

I am such a victim I watched part one a year ago though and I have been taking action but I see now more than ever how much of a victim I am and I am needing more and more action. I say needing because I cannot accept who I am right now I know I can be better/ happier. The video from a year ago sank into my psyche so much that I could remember bits and pieces from that video that have helped me tremendously make right choices but I forgot the origin. My mantra has even become "I have a choice".Thanks for your wisdom!! Gonna re watch this and part one.

    • @reneemoore6249

I understand. Its interesting that you came here for thinking. I discovered by definition depression is synonymous with self pity and then defining that to victim mentality. Unhappiness, blaming others. So what is the solution? Self honesty. Responsibility. Facing truth that I have been avoiding. Etc.
Fun stuff once I get past resistance. Salutations to all readers!

It's very important for a person to understand when they are victimizing their selves; we all do it to some degree. One must "practice becoming the master of the self so that they may not be controlled by their mind no longer." A good life is lived in constant practice.

Sometimes I feel fed up with your video, and then I try to stop temporarily. But oftentimes without warning, I feel problems come to me without warning at all, and often times it makes me sad, depressed, and feel don't know at all and don't understand. I think my mind and mental have growth but actually, it's not enough. So I try to search in your channel the topic that relates to my current condition at that times, and it always makes me: "Wow I don't know something like that happened, it's beyond mindblown and my mind is so narrow to feel so sorrow and thinking there is no other way."
Your concept is so profound because this is not much taught in our school, society, family, or works but it really relates to any of us.
I am very lucky to find your channel, I am also on the journey of self-improvement every day and every time 😊

Thank you for making this video. I've been stuck in victim-mode so long
that I've lost my direction in life. What to do, what do I like to do?
What am I good at? What should I work with? Where should I live? It has
been a mess and I've lost many friends and kept to myself. This started
when I looked into this spiritual way of living. I've read about law of
attraction and stopped my thoughts when i noticed they weren't serving
me, turned then around and startad thinking positive. But when you don't
feel positive, It feels like hypocrisy to fake the thought when the
feeling doesnt match.. I was feeling better for a while though, in the
start of thinking like this. But now I've realized that months have gone
by and I have been really unsatisfied about almost everything.
Complaining and projected my problems to the outside world. Man now It
has sunk in and I realize much better now what I have to do. Thx alot!

  • @elisenieuwe4649
    @elisenieuwe4649 6 років тому +1

After watching the first video and this second one, there seem to be two ways of taking responsibility by working on yourself.
    1. Working towards the internal/ psychological: find and change faulty beliefs, search for assumptions you have, work on introspection etc.
    2. Working towards the external/ physical: learn new things, practice skills, get a job, change habits etc.
Both seem necessary and need serious action, but the first seems to be the fundament for the second. If the first way of working on yourself contains too many faults (is not developed enough) , then you will see those same faults manifest themselves in the second way of working on yourself, through the external actions you take.
That does not mean you should do nothing in the second domain, trial and error are part of the proces and faults in the second domain can enhance the first domain if you are concious of your mistakes and why they happened, but it does mean that spending time on developing the first domain is very important to keep growing.

+Pat Pfeiffer You know... there are quantum processes related to what you explained in the comments. Timeless subconscious reality probably resides in a 5th dimension where time is manipulable as as merely other spatial axis as a fourth layer or geometric dimension. Please, don't associate spiritual "dimensions" to this what I stated, I is merely what mathematics predicts about geometry. And the reason for not only the universe to exist, but the multiverse as well, is is an inevitable geometrical recursion through the whole infinite 12 dimensions to the multiverse, the inevitability of the golden mean. it's beautiful, but sometimes is madly insane.

Leo- For victims especially the physical and mentally abused there's a healing process that needs to happen. You just don't get up and go. Like if you had a heart attack or got hit by a bus where you actually survive that, you can't just get up and go. The mind needs to "heal" first before it can do the work that you want it to. I am not saying the victim should just give up but it needs to heal/rehabilitate first to be able to get what you want to train it to be more mindful, for example. I guess for some they bounce back very quickly but for others it will take longer.

Now it seems I have been not noticing at least a couple of areas of my life where I still do have the victim mindset.... really deep stuff after 15:00 . Thanks for sharing!

I agree is totally an inside job, being a victim is looking at the external we are powerful creative beings we are not pitiful victims. This video will help thousands and hopefully millions to take their power back from the circumstances from the victim mentality they created for themselves. You are changing the world one person at a time. Thank you p.s. I love the middle finger LOL!

Maybe I missed something, but you didn't talk about in either of the 2 videos that victim identity FEELS good for the victim. Like if you're really deep into it, you are like this special snowflake that the world is extra cruel towards, no one is as unlucky as you in the whole world. And if victims find each other, they sit and validate each other and give each other comfort and attention, feeding each other. Or is this such an obvious symptom that you didn't mention it?

Yeah. I think all of us do this. When I first entered my career, I worked with guys that were always finding someone else to blame and would often times even stop working so that they could reinforce each other by complaining that things were everyone else's fault. Seems somewhat human nature. But several years later I was directed to stop some work that had problems and then chewed out by the manager. When I explained that I was ordered to do this, he said " you know what needs to be done". So from that point forward often I would try to do as I was directed, but also take responsibility for the outcome. I think all of us feel satisfied by either being a victim.. then validated by others, or satisfied in taking responsibility and being part of solutions. It is just much easier to be a victim.. complain to others and then receive the nuturing sympathy, whether the problem is real , or imagined. That way we are vindicated that we shouldn't even try. The effort route is more difficult but more satisfying in a mature way.

      @victoriahowden4846 8 років тому

This is taught at universities, if one who is in a psychology program decides to go far enough, say, to a doctorate level. Only thing is, if the one doing the research does not grasp it and simply projects it, it does nothing for the individual, or the clients they treat in the future. Reflection, introspection, and insight is where these things come from. I am just glad someone is saying it, it needs said loud and clear. Trouble is, most college students are distracted and motivated by future financial gain, therefor, not to reach self-actualization. When I point this out in my courses, I get viewed as rude and/or arrogant, I find that disturbing.

    notes:
Who is responsible for the quality of your life?
    Our Areas of responsibilities:
    success
    failures
emotions (how to master your emotions)
    accidents
circumstances of life,( genects, family, money, political, country )
    relationships
    Victim stages:
    Stage 1 unconscious
The external world is a greater obstacle to him than he is to himself
    No control
    Labeling
    stories
    Blame
    Can't trust yourself
    Defensive
“You don't know me, You don't know what i’ve been through”
    Frustrated
    Stage 2
    Unfair cruel depressing world
    Fighting over control
    Competitive
    Aggressive
    Stage 3
    Creating circumstances, happiness
Not too focused on others or past
    Being present
chose how to act in the present moment
You always have control of your reactions/thinking/feeling and how you interpret your reactions
ACTION!!!!! (we tend to think we do enough but we don’t really know how much work is necessary in the first place) work smart!
    Something will work for me!
    Stage 4 conscious
    Just being
THERE IS A FAILURE IN THE VICTIM TO APPRECIATE THE POSSIBILITY OF SELF DECEPTION.
YOUR MIND IS YOUR OBSTACLE: common negative self talk
    I can't
    Impossible
    Too hard
    Unfair
    World is evil
    I have/must/should to do this
    I have never done that
    What if I fail
    But it's his fault
I’ve already tried that none of that stuff works
    “Never happen”
    This always happens”
I'll try - not try just do
    I think i'll do this
    Maybe
    Not good enough
    I’m not good at that
    What's the point?
    Too much effort
    It's too late for me
It's easy for you - you had this - and I had this bad stuff
But how am I going to do it?
THINGS CREATED BY YOU/THINGS YOU ARE IN CONTROL OF:
    Mental filters
    Attitudes
    Limiting beliefs
    Judgments
    Unquestioned assumptions about reality
    Lack of introspection
    Visualization
Model of reality as a whole
    Emotional reactions
What you view of right and wrong and good and evil
    Habits you have or don't
    Your self talk
    Lack of mindfulness
Ego and how ego affects relationships and the wholeness of everything
    What are problems?
Reality is a projection warped by our physiology
Problems are a feature of the mind.
Problems are a projection of the mind.
You project meaning to the situations in the external world and they are an indicator of how you hold yourself relative to reality.
Problems have to be sustained activity.- that you are creating.
There is no problem without the mind.
Problems are not things that exist in the external world.
Your mind is looking for solutions in the wrong places externally, not internally.
The outer world isn’t the only thing that matters.
How to identify your victim mentality:
    Problem:
    Reasons it's impossible to change:
    Why it's not your fault?
How is this an external problem?
How the this an internal problem?
How am I creating the obstacle?
What am avoiding by creating this obstacle?
What must I believe to be a victim?
Personal development requires you to be 100 responsible for everything. “What you choose to happen to yourself is more important than the events that affected you”
    Blame:
A.Blame is a low conscious activity which is indicated by our level of awareness.
1.Blame is something our ego creates that makes us feel better by using good (yourself) and evil (situation, people, anything but you) to separate ourselves from responsibility.
2.The distinction between good and evil is a false distinction one created in your mind as it allows you to create a separation and creates a stronger sense of you.
3.Blame is pointless the more you realize it. It diverts your attention from the things that need to be fixed. Nothing will get done.
Most people understand responsibility as blame: This is how most people understand responsibility.
    Just/only Your ability to respond.
    blaming yourself or others!
    internalizing blame!
someone tells you “you’re responsible” it means you need to go and guilt yourself or make yourself feel bad.
Believe that you are bad or evil or wrong.

It's interesting that all life's problems actually stem from avoiding the internal world. It's funny, as Leo was saying in the video the importance of realizing this, I sort of naturally "got" what he meant at a slightly deeper level. This isn't to say I have mastered myself by any means, as I still cling to a victim mindset in many ways(the most pronounced being procrastination of self introspection) but i'll do my best to take this video to heart

Hey Leo. Thanks for the great video again.
I have friends, who would benefit so much from your videos. What you are saying is relating like exactly 100% to them. But it's hard to show it to them. Their life could be so much more free from unnecessary problems, but they are resisting me showing them another path. I've always tried to explain them this point of view from your video, which i am holding for a long time now, but it just doesn't work. Is it even possible to show someone this way, if he is consciously resisting the idea that his problems are self made?

Wow, I am impressed! Thank you for another excellent video, Leo! My problem, als of many others is, I get that I shlould change something about my self and also my thinking, but I don't know what exactly. So I keep stumbling from situation to situation experimenting with my behavior and the view on the things. I also have a particular question, nor a very important but though, I would like to know how you look at it. My boss (a young woman of the same age) is often quite unfriendly and unfair. There were a couple of situations when she needed a favor (also a finantial one) and was overly friendly to me, and as soon as she got what she wanted, she became unfriendly again. A quite common situation, I'd say. So here's the twist. When talking with my husband about that, he says: "you acted right and did everything right while she acted like a b..ch she's known for anyway. Don't behave like her or you will end up as a b..ch, too, what I would never accept." Well, I on the other hand tend to think, I shouldn't have done her any favor and stop doing it in the future, as I want to live a good life too and no one else would take care or protect me if I won't. How would you behave if you didn't want to deceive your wife but also wanted to stay true to yourself and not be treated like a fool? I appreciate your answer!

What leo is saying in simple english is :----- " A victim thinks that the level of difficulty in surmounting the barriers that this world throws on him or her , seems much harder to overcome than him trying to elevate his mind trying to solve the problem using his own knowledge, experience and confidence(basically using his own mind) . Basically us claiming something as a barrier in our life is us being unconcious that its our mind that thinks its a barrier, actually it our mind , that is the barrier, Ego hides this real enemy :)

I have 2 adult children who are narcisstic and alcholic and it has been so painful. I am trying to not be a victim and make myself responsible for my happiness and count my blessings. I have good health and a world out there to enjoy. Reality is what it is and I cant change it. I love my children but I cant let them make me miserable. What must I believe to not be a victim? I like that Leo, a lot of my friends don't have children and they are happy so why can't I be, been asking myself this. I guess a lot of years of investment and it turned out bad but I did enjoy them when they were little and had much happiness so time to find happiness in other ways now.

Really good content Leo. You are helping many people. Our mind creates reality for us. As within so without. So if you have obstacles in outside world, those are created by your mind. Moment you erase obstacles in mind, outside obstacles dissolve themselves. I am sure victims won't have awareness enough to watch this video. Only victors are watching this video. The moment any victim is watching this video ( his outer is changed means his mind has changed) he is no more victim.

To put your advice into practice....... that’s the hard part and the work begins today! Have a great day.... ps. I’m 62. Sometimes in my opinion it feels like you are speaking to people a couple of decades younger than myself . Or make references to “ your grandma”. Well. This grandma is very young at heart snd hopefully. Your sage advice includes the struggles of us past the fourth or fifth decade in life also. Keep making videos leo. Listening to you has helped me greatly and I look forward to each new video!
