I bought my hobie quest fisherman 14-15 years ago on a whim out eastern Long Island. I believe it was first year of mirage drive yaks. The guy tried to convince me to buy the pedal drive having no knowledge I blew it off thinkin it was something that was going to break and cause trouble. I’ve been paddling that yak ever since 🤦‍♂️. But I did rig a Minokota elec troll motor on it 7 years ago 😆.

Isn’t the V2 parts still available? Why did you decide to do a GT sprocket on one half? Thanks for sharing. I currently have a mast that is stripped out in a sprocket so I came across this. I will be doing a swap soon myself. Just curious why you decided on a GT sprocket.

They stopped making V2 parts so it’s hard to find left over parts online...They made the GT parts compatible with the V2 parts that’s why you only seen me change one sprocket because they other was perfectly fine...no issue with my drive after replacement, and over the winter I’ll probably swap out some kore older parts and basically rebuild the drive into a GT....thanks for watching Joey!!! STAY TUNED!!!

What about the Lock tite & did you heat the old threads before you tried removing the broken rod. just asking. if No Heat then you will strip or spin the spline.

I had to replace the sprocket because when I tried to remove the broken rod the whole cylinder casing surrounding the threads cracked and started spinning also...I didn’t try heating it up 🤦🏻‍♂️ now I know, thanks for that tip Rob!! And thanks for checking out the video!! STAY TUNED!!!
