Why would city and county officials write off and allow something like this without presenting it to the public first, or even giving some advanced notice? Here in Canada, our own Military as well does training exercises in civilian urban areas, yet the population is notified that they will operating in the area not to be somewhat confused and not to curiously approach any service members while they are on duty.

Seeing this one year later makes all the sense. Those MH-60Ls and MH-6s are flown by the Army's 160th SOAR, the premier special operations aviation unit in the world. The passengers of those high speed rides were likely JSOC members, could be the Navy's famous DEVGRU (known as SEAL Team Six); the Army's CAG, commonly known as Delta Force; or the less known 24th Special Tactics Squadron of the US Air Force. Those urban trainings are not common, but they do happen from time to time. All made in assistance of local and state LE. Something similar happened in 1999 in Texas when Delta were conducting night urban training. It was known as "Operation Last Dance"
This happened a few months ago in Ogden Utah. They won't tell you why for safety. Urban combat. Not uncommon. They won't warn you. People who needed to know, knew. You as a citizen don't need to know. Protection for those who are training. Common sense.

People have short memory spans. We're also oblivious to any announcements until it affects us. They probably released a statement through social media and news and no one paid attention to it.
But their reactions are hilarious I guess this is a good way to test who is paying attention to their local news (which I am sure made a couple of announcements prior)

The drones that were "appearing" and then "disappearing" is what freaked me out because you couldn't tell what it/they were at first because it was dark and you couldn't "hear" them because they were up high then all of a sudden they would "appear" or "disappear"! I truly thought for a second "alien attack"! LOL! But seriously though.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I live next to a military base in south eastern Georgia, and we have been hearing low flying loud aircraft but not seeing them for about 3 years
@@helgaderm8439 That's normal. It's very hard to spot aircraft, especially drones. And that's intentional.

I hate to sound paranoid, but that makes no sense to have those drills like that when they can make their ghost towns for these type of exercises. Feels more like training for marshall law when implemented.

They do trainings like this in my town all the time cause we have a nuclear power plaint most of time the soldiers will come and talk with you pretty dope.
Same in Augusta Ga we have a Nuclear power plant (plant Vogtle) and Fort Gordon army base.

A few years from now:
During an unannounced military exercise in downtown Chicago, military helicopters unloaded hundreds of troops who then sealed off all the major roads.
During simulated urban combat, a few thousand citizens were temporarily detained in makeshift prisoncamps in the basements of officebuildings.
After a few hours, the military commander declared the exercise a success and most barriers and roadblocks were lifted.
All the people who were detained will be released as soon as they have been properly interrogated and processed.
One part of the exercise, the military curfew starting from 18:30 till 4:30 will be maintained in the coming weeks.
The mayor and city law enforcement commented they were rather pleased with the positive effects on the overall crimerates which the military curfew has brought about.
