    Thank you for the awesome video! Here's a summary:
    1. Research other games that are similar to your game, because they already have players that like games of the same genre as yours.
    2. Research who in the media that covered that other game in reviews, streams, walkthroughs...etc, because they already are connected to those players. Utilize the "Google" quotes.
    3. Create a spreadsheet with the contacts of those media outlets.
    4. Contact them to cover your game too!

    Welcome back, man. Yes, try to find the right target audience is much more efficient than just shout out randomly. :)

  • @kjuniks4817
    @kjuniks4817 4 роки тому +3

    So in a nutshell:
    If you want an audience for your game, don't spam it everywhere, find people who are related to your game.
    Example:
    If you're making a 2d survival game, and now think of the games that are similar to yours. A great example would be Don't starve and Terraria, now you should go and try to expose your game on their forums, discussion topics, social media, the people who play them(youtubers, streamers) etc. and create a list.
    This is the most efficient strategy to expose your work, not just spamming it everywhere!

    "Holy crap, Joey, This looks amazing! I would play that to death!" I get that kind of response everytime i show a friend my game. Maybe it's about time i make it available to download even though it's still a WIP

    7:35 I feel the "why would they play my game instead of that one" is a good question to ask yourself in a sense of game design, when you are looking for your hook and your unique selling point. But when it's time for marketing, it's the opposite, ride the similarities, so you can go "it's like that game you like... but with that instead of that". I agree that if you just made a worse version of another game that already exist, why would anybody want that, but that's a problem with your game, not your marketing.

    7:55 My biggest worry is that not only am I a black horse candidate, having never made a game before this, but also, my game is very unique, and is an rpg that has some mechanics that are dubiously alien to the rpg genre for combat: pong. Furthermore, my game has point and click aspects. My game is so genius and innovative that I don't think there will ever be an audience for it.

    @Game Dev Underground
    What about finding Developers interested in joining your game?
    I've been working on one just for a basic prototype.
    I know exactly what I want and how I want it. Working on World Machine to import onto UE4 and use assets for modders for a specific game. Basically what Hell Let Loose has done but a completely different setting.
