Those Kynoch rounds appear to be about perfect for that particular Wilkinson SxS! It looked like you could have placed the barrels at 5yds, 25yds, or the 65yds you were aiming at and had great grouping! That was a great video, thanks for posting!
Wow wish mine shot that tight of a group at 50 yards. Guess that's the difference between a professionally built double and a hobby gunsmith like my self. Mine shoots about 5 inches at 60 yards. Glad I found this channel not alot of channels doing videos on dangerous game rifles. I also collect cape guns and drillings. Love this channel it is in my top 10 favorites
Wonderful vids! Great rifles and works of practical lifesaving, food gathering art! The old Nitro Express cartridges show proof of the effectiveness and in my opinion superiority of the heavier, bigger bullets for everything under the sun if one desires insurance.
I looked at my double reloading manuals and did find some R19 loads. I am afraid at 200-250 the barrels will have crossed and start separating quite a bit. I stick with 100yards max, especially for hunting Buffalo.
@@oldcolonialtreasures114 That is good in that big case, I am loading up some 577"x3" cases and the 4831 looks a bit low, they really need a filler to keep the powder on the primer in these big capacity cases I find. Stay safe! Chris B.
if you love doubles you will love this .He was "he retired " one of the best smiths in the US . One of the few that could make a double from a block of steel and wood . Completely from scratch . He documented the entire process of him building a 2 bore jones underlever . I Learned more in this series , than in my 51 years of life . This episode is where he explains regulation ,, "That part begins some where at 11 ua-cam.com/video/PbswiaELwvY/v-deo.html I strongly recommend the entire series it is truly fascinating . I have a library of books bought over a lifetime that easily exceeds 20 grand . Most of the books cost over $50 some cost more than $.300 . All most a quarter of it is on the English single shot and double rifles . There is more information in this series that my entire library . You are one incredible shot and you have one incredible rifle . I am certain you could hit a 6 inch pie plate at 250. But yea don't try that on buff . May be a deer .Why not
@@oldcolonialtreasures114 try those extra leaves .I am willing to bet they are on the money ,subscribed . Oh hunt deer with your rifle don't let it sit in the closet .I hunt with a 50/90 sharps and a 550 grain slug

None of them are bad to shoot at all. The 450 n/e has a plastic butt plate no rubber recoil pad.

Try grain for grain cordite to reloader 19 fill the case with Dacron shotgun buffer

Nice shooting.
Thank you, the rifle fits me very well
You might want to try Federal Premium with Woodleigh bullets. When they are available again that is. My 470 loves them.
the reloading information comes from Rifle magazine ,article by ross syfried . Your rifle could easily hit well at 200 - 250 . You need to try it

This was a real treat to watch! With the IMR 4831 what case fill do you get, and do you use a foam filler to take up any space? Chris B.
I get about 95% fill on that load and hence do not use any filler.
ImR 4831

How much worse recoil than a 3” 12 ga, ?
It is a different recoil, at 11lb7oz, the rifle is pushing way more than a sharp kick..hope it makes sense?

How was the recoil compared to 450-400??
The Wilkinson is almost two pounds heavier than the 450/400. That being said it pushes back harder and also the muzzle lift is higher.
