- Here's a little something for all you Bonanza and Big Valley fans :) I just love both of these classic tv westerns.
Sorry the Big Valley theme isn't included. I couldn't get it through my server.
Anyways...enjoy and feel free to comment as always ;)
Las dos series ❤las ví completas y hoy día las sigo viendo ❤ marcaron una época maravillosa los amo ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Bonanza may have been more popular, with a much longer series run, but I preferred Big Valley--higher production values, richer character development, strong female lead, riskier storytelling. Bonanza was fun to watch, but Big Valley pulled me in, even made me think sometimes.
The big valley was is the best show. As a nine-year-old little girl watching the reruns there was nothing on TV for a little girl to look up to. Barbara Stanwyck in the big valley gave me so much hope. She was a strong independent woman and the show tackled a lot of issues in its day. The rest of the westerns were all men. Men controlling everything. Barbara Stanwyck was the shining star for a little girls like me
Bonanza and the Big Valley ... oh boy, does that bring back memories! That was when men were MEN! Really good pix, but the music is absolutely GREAT. I especially love the orchestral arrangement of the 'Bonanza' theme. Thanks for sharing, ambicraig!
Thank you for that. I loved Big Valley, wishing I grew up a Barkley. However I liked Gunsmoke 2nd, then Bonanza 3rd. But love the images.
I love both series. Bonaza gets my vote as best TV show ever made. It had it all: superior cast, excellent guest stars, great scripts, action, outdoors scenes (its specialty), horses, cattle, wonderful theme music, and fabulous color. It was a blockbuster.
Haha! Bless your heart. I was born in 1985 and I love these shows...as you can tell :) I guess my mom's love for them rubbed off in the womb with me ;) I loves me some Barkleys and Cartwrights.
NOUS SOMMES LE 16 mars 2021. de quel monde etes-vous? .
I enjoyed the family values of bonanza. The actors were well chosen. It was a show of morality and integrity. It moulded my life. Great show indeed. Trinidad.
Rasheed Enightoola I LOVE Bonanza!!
Bonanza season 1-6 was, is and will be my favourite, my Adam 😊. Started watching Big Valley because of Pernell Roberts, the two episodes he played along. In BV I like Nick and Heath and Jarrod. For me Bonanza is on place #1 and on 2nd place High Chaparral, uncle Buck. BV is 3rd place. Rawhide ( which the music was from you used introducing the Barkleys) was also a good show. Young Clint Eastwood.
You just took me 35 years back. I been alawys different boy from my peers back that time in Jordan. Poor boy with rich heart , brave heart from abused minority.
Full of values in a materliasc community.
An orphan raised by the barkleys.
Working and living in Utah any time I feel sad mad or deoressed I watch the big valley.
I feel that I am living with them and I wish I travel through time and meet all of them. Thanks
Ah...so they were on occasion :) That was kinda neat. Oh, and Pernell Roberts (Adam Cartwright) was occasionally on 'The Big Valley', too. I guess all of them were in the occasional Western movie, too. I love watching them all act...especially if they're together in the same film. People really could act back then and draw you into the plot. It's awesome to get to watch it today.
I love big valley
I LOVE THESE TWO SHOWSS!!!!!!!!!!! I can't really pick which one I like better =) They are both sooooooooooooooooooo gooooooooood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I could imagine Joe, Hoss, and Heath getting along together perfectly. The same goes for Jarrod and Adam. They both seem like they are twins who have never met. Nick may have gotten along with Joe the most.
You're very welcome :) They were such good entertainment back then and even moreso now because they're advenurous, clean, and cool! The actors really can act and make you get into it. It's amazing how talented they are...and those men...HOLY COW! They don't make 'em like that anymore...nor could anyone else do what they did. It was great and still is today. Thanks for watching ;)
I love both shows. Thanks for posting
It ought to not surprise anyone that when Bonanza, after a long and successful run on German television in the late 1960s, was taken off the air over there, The Big Valley replaced Bonanza in it's timeslot. The Big Valley then ran for a little over a year, then was replaced by another series right up the same alley: The Virginian.
I love both tv shows, though I'm slightly biased towards "The Big Valley", if only because it's one of the few westerns set in California...which is as far West as you can get. (I know, I live here in CA.)
Bonanza gets my vote; the story lines were always different and the cast was great. I like the Big Valley too because of the serious scripts. Both were equally great, though.
You're so welcome, dear :) I thought a tribute from me was needed because I love both of these shows and my family has loved them for years as well. Thanks for watching :)
You know...I've wondered the same thing, too :) A few years ago I actually wrote an episode of "The Big Valley" meeting "Bonanza". Hey, what can I say...a young girl's fancy with so many gorgeous cowboys will fill her head up with all kinds of silly notions :) My writing will never be put to TV, though, because NO ONE could fill the characters like the originals did. No one can hold a candle to them.
The crossover woulda been lovely, though...that's for sure! :)
I could easily write a Fan-Fiction Crossover to this idea...
When I was a boy, I preferred Bonanza, as did all boys. Who could resist HOSS! As I grew up I came to feel that Bonanza was a touch cartoonish and that Big Valley was more sophisticated in story line and character development.
I could be wrong, but is my assessment.
PRICELESS!!!! Thank you very much!!!
I love Bonanza the most, but I do like to watch Big Valley on many occasions.
I’ve been watching Bonanza for years. I just recently started watching theThe Big Valley. I have noticed many similarities in several episodes. Muy interesante. 🤔
Don't forget Ben, he proposed to a women in one episode and she was bitten by a wolf with rabies. She chose to go away and died with dignity. No body had warned her about the Cartwright curse.
You are correct... Two of the best of all Westerns ever anywhere. The stories were exciting and the colors and scenery of both shows was the very best ever. Sorryfully to say, the studios will never come up anything like this before the end of time. All we see now is cheap one room crap... big faces and moving lips all over our screens. No scenery, just faces.
Folks, you have seen the best, and reruns are a gift. Be grateful when youi see a rerun of Bonanza or Big Valley. Milbourne.
You're so welcome, dear :) I'm glad it brought back fond memories for you and you liked it :)
i totally agree with you, that bonanza was the best western.....and got to be honest i've never heard of the big valley....
I watched all the TV westerns back in the day ... of reruns, when I was a kid and they were on in the afternoons, mid-1970s. My favorite, both show and theme song, was The High Chaparral. I liked the Big Valley theme better than Bonanza's, but probably enjoyed Bonanza a little bit for the episodes. Very close call, though.
You're so welcome :) I, too love the Bonanza men ;) But...then again...the Big Valley men have a piece of my heart as well! I just can't choose between them so I'll just love them all FOREVER :) LOL! ;)
@jessiediane1 Thanks for the compliment. The reason I didn't use the Big Valley theme song, though, is because where I got the music from they didn't have the Big Valley recording. This medley was already placed together so it was the closest recording I could get.
my husband grew up in the 60's. we have to watch this every evening. he loves the big valley. i grew up in the 70's, so i admit, i don't get the attraction.
tranurse
i love bonanza,, i'll have to have a look for it....thanks....i like your username as well its cool...
Oh yes, and then to throw in Rawhide and Wagontrain theme song in the background...I LOVE ME SOME METV!!!
Yeah I wonder and yeah I can imagine that too
I'd watch that LOL
Of this type of show:
1) Bonanza
2) The Virginian
3) The Big Valley
4) Lancer
5) The High Chaparrel
I have yet to see 'The Virginian' and 'Lancer'...but I'm sure they were good shows, too :) My mom also likes 'The High Chaparrel'. She liked the man who played the character 'Monilito' on the show. The only thing I never understood about that show is how 'John' snatched up the pretty young woman who played 'Victoria'...LOL!
Why Are You Playing the Theme From Raw Hide for Big valley
Because I could not locate a clip of the music for my video when i created it.
Garbage
perfect
I'm going with Hop Sing!
Bonanza was the better show, but they were both good.
I often wondered why the two shows never got together and did a crossover episode. I mean, the Cartwrights and the Barkleys were the two most prominent families in their respective areas, and these areas were not geographically that far apart (Lake Tahoe and Stockton), so it would make sense that they would know each other.
It's really hard to find bonanza episodes. I don't think they've ever made a "season set" on DVD or VHS. You can sometimes find 2 or 3 Bonanza episodes on DVD...but that's about it. They used to show Bonanza on TV Land and tv classic stations. Maybe if you find it on tv you can record it? Or check online to see if you can buy episodes. I wish they'd bring out all the seasons for us to buy. That would be AWESOME!
They've finally released the first season of Bonanza on DVD, split into two volumes. Hopefully they will sell well enough to justify the release of more seasons. The Big Valley stalled out after they released only one and half seasons due to poor sales.
Are any of these programs. Spin Off from one or another??
I vote Bonanza, but I liked them both
I'm sorry you lost your childhood sweetheart so young. Isn't it odd how certain songs remind you of people you lost? Bittersweet. Thanks for watching my vid. Yeah...it woulda been awesome if they had had Big Valley and Bonanza together in like a 2 hr. movie w/ ALL the original actors. That woulda been so cool.
I'm now enjoying the Re_Runs of Bonanza Episodes
I like The Big Valley better for one reason, two words: Barbara Stanwyck.
Interesting. She's the reason why I don't like The Big Valley better. Every time she talks, it's like she whining. If she plays a major role in the episode, best believe she is either kidnapped or stranded somewhere. Well, I guess that's a reason she would be whining come to think of it. But to each his/her own.
Hey. That's okay. Well, I couldn't get the Big Valley music through the server I use for my music videos :( That's why I had to use Rawhide instead. I know...I like the Rawhide song but I woulda rather of had the Big Valley music set to it.
I can ONLY watch these programs on Me-TV (U-Verse) when I visit my mom, (U-Verse has Me-T) programs, COMCAST doesn't!! I do have the channel INSP, which shows those programs
why it the rawhide song play for Big Valley theme song when showing the actor
I couldn't find a version of Big Valley theme song when I made the video a long time ago
Who would win in a fight between Silas and Hopsing?
Hop Sing over Silas any day!!!
No offense, but why was the Rawhide theme played during the Big Valley pics??? What happened to The Big Valley theme music?
@Lisica2008 He was a very handsome man :) And, he was on @ least 1 episode of the Big Valley that I know of :)
Amber Davison-Gault, Are you talking about Pernell Roberts? If so, he was on the Cage of Eagles on Big Valley.
WHY DO YOU HAVE THE RAWHIDE THEME FOR THE BIG VALLEY?????
I'm very disappointed. I thought this would be a clip from a crossover episode I didn't know about. I think it's a good idea to include words like "Tribute" in posts like these. Oh well. :)
haha ... wen he played a crazy Greek i think
you have the theme from bonanza why not the big valley????????
I couldn't find a version of it when I made the video a long time ago.
You know Barkley wasn’t his real name
k
FAILED
fail
Get RID Rawhide Music
I thought this was a real episode. You tricked us. Thumbs down.
The people that owned the Big Valley " made so many mistakes when they snatched this great show off the air.
Then they came back with some lane-brain sequel that was half-written and sorrowfully directed. What a wast of money and story writing.
GARBAGE!
