Such a great idea to bring in cats like Joel Frahm, He's such a talented and versatile player that he's teaching while making great music and bringing the whole band up to a higher level. Each of his solos is like a jazz etude you could study and learn from. Andrea's sounding great too.
Joan does it again with the Sant Andreu jazz band with a great rendition of this old jazz number. Joel Frahm adds to the great sound. Andrea does a great vocal.
It's vero Kind listen these amazing guys top directed by Maestro Chamorro. They were great already years ago. Listen to the young Andrea. Mr Frahm fills with power and technic this great ensemble!! Thank you again Mr Chamorro for sharing and for this life mission !! 👍❤️
@@robertvanruyssevelt7159 He played a lot of awsome solos in Barcelona, but soprano???? I only remember him on his trusty tenor. Any hint to support your claim?
@@paulsj9245 A particularly nice solo (also a good solo from Joan Mar Sauque) and in fact one of my favourite pieces all round: ua-cam.com/video/bIeWEOutvfI/v-deo.html
No slouch herself Andrea Motis looks so happy to be in the midst of such awesomeness 5:04 I believe it was she who suggested Joel Frahm to Joan Chamorro and it seems to have worked out to everyone's benefit!
Never in your life you will forget the first Jazz record you bought. In my case it was Blue Note 4003 "Moanin" way back in the seventies when I was a teenager. Being a good teacher, you obviously led all your scholars along the timeline of Jazz, beginning with New Orleans standards. Now the several groups you formed, including the big band, have obviously and definitely arrived at the point where I, as a mere listener, and alas! not a musician entered the history of Jazz, strolling up and down the following decades. All of them are able to swing professionally in the mood of Hard Bop, and your solists know how to improvise modally. I hopefully look forward to seeing them play some other of my all time favourites like "Kind of Blue" or "Giant Steps", and I'm absolutely sure they will be able to play like the great big bands of the seventies, the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra ("Mean What You Say", e.g.) or the unforgettable Don Ellis (take "Tears of Joy", e.g., because that's how I feel when I'm listening to you, or the mind-blowing "Pussywiggle Stomp"). Watching your development I feel that almost everything is possible. Keep on following the way you started 11 years ago!
Section rythmique impeccable et OSMOSE entre les Cuivres et les Bois... Un vrai régal ce big band... Muchas gracias Maestro Chamorro por haber transmitido la pasion de la musica y del jazz a estos ninos valientes...
Another great job............ The supporting cast just gets better: We all know Magali can carry the bottom but she's been improving steadily and, since the bass plays it's own part you can really hear it. This song, her duet with Carla on Easter Parade and and the over-the -speed limit playing on From This moment On................great work, professional level work. And, Carla, up till recently the Queen of Freddie Green (style rhythm guitar) is getting a little more into solos and, as evidenced here, is playing more than just that rock-steady 4 to the bar that Freddie (and Carla) have been famous for. Thank you all for some great music and keep pushing it......I'm looking for more phenomenal stuff. (When the Motis-Chamorro Big Band and the 'Sant Andreu Jas Band Alumni' merge--it's getting closer!)
Bass player Magali Datzira does not just stay in rhytm and tune any more. She IS the rhytm and tune, making it easy for the rest of the band. I'd rather call the rhytm section the "heart of the band" than "supporting cast". Brass and sax sections, no matter how good, can't make the groove without the heartbeat. As for the more challenging stuff, and why haven't we heard it before, the kids have already showed the whole world they have the talent and enthusiam, all Chamorro (and other adults) had to to do is give them the challenge.
Od Joel-a Frahm-a se nije ni moglo manje očekivati , ali Andrea , Jan , Magali , Joan Mata i svi drugi poimence , i kao kruna svega učinak Joan-a Chamorro-a izazivaju čistu radost i uživanje . Ovi mladi muzičari godinama dokazuju da su dostojni saradnje sa muzičarima najvišeg renomea , a posebnu emociju izaziva njihovo neopisivo zadovoljstvo , gotovo roditeljska nežnost , kada aplauzom i osmehom isprate svakog solistu . Gospodine Chamorro dodjite u Srbiju .
Where can i buy a ticket to see these kids play? They don't play like most kids i know......I can't give them enough praise.........Glad I found them....

MAGALI is excellent on that bass perfectly focused allowing Frahm to exit and enter with the dexterity of a race car driver - Bravo 👏

When i was listening on my phone i thought the trumpet solo was like Terrell Stafford or someone, but man Andrea is Killing it! And Joel what a solo!
Joan, ты супер-чувак! Воспитать поколение - много трудов. Очень клево! Лет 8 смотрю уже. Наслаждаюсь) Спасибо всем вам.
This is soooo good! Thank you
that is the greatest tenor solo omg unbelievable
During his time with the SAJB Joel Frahm came up with a brilliant sax solo (sometimes on soprano) for each number.

Great arrangement. Great intonation. Municipal support of the arts is crucial if you want a product like this. And an inspired band leader.
This band has been self funded with no municipal or state funds for over ten years. Money comes from public performances.

We had The Jazz Messengers- now we have SAJB- giants all of them.
Fabulous as always...we should have jazz teachers in other places (USA, for example) following Joan's lead and producing these kinds of young artists.
plus Joel's solo was great and inventive as usual!!!
