This performance has everything. Joel is incredible, Joan is insane on the bari2 , the trombones were out of sight, piano solo was A plus, the tenors and Alto were incredible and Andrea’s voice and charm is always top notch .... AND the incredible bass player held it all together. Totally adorable face to boot. A Grammy prize for sure. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Back in the day I used to enjoy such a frenetic tempo but my right forearm would get really tight and tired. We didn't use amps and had to fill the dance hall with our instrument's volume. Magali has my sincere admiration for her playing, her stamina, and she keeps smiling.

andrea motis never sacrifices the note ... pays so much attention to it .. when she came to the vocals she stepped into the flasetto so confidently... shes a perfectionist.. and Joan Chamorro is the ultimate genius. Well done

Remarkable for sure - this is one hell of a teacher, he gets every drop from these kids and they sound many years ahead of their time.
Magali, on bass rocks! She is undaunted in spite of a very rapid, up-beat tempo. The band in its entirety is superb -- students, guests and teachers. God, how I love these folks!

I’ve heard many versions of this tune, many of them great, but this version kills them all. Great music, wonderful rendition. Gold star to magali for an exceptional bass line.

I don't know how Magali could keep the pace and yet produce such brillant bass playing! Same with Esteve Pi. Great solo from Joel Frahm as well.

What great musicians ... every one of them! A brilliant arrangement of this 1938 Ray Noble big-band classic! Maestro Chamorro deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for repeatedly bringing so much joy into this sorry, suffering world. Just look at his body of work here on UA-cam alone. Everything is better with Joan Chamorro and the SAJB! Can't get enough. TY!

Loved the little cameo with Joan Codina and Rita Payes on trombones. It's small things like that which show these musicians love what they're doing and make it so much more enjoyable for us.

Five-star rating and ONE HUNDRED PER CENT SATISFACTION !!! I have played this video over and over again and never tire of it. I find something new to enthral me every time whether it be musically or visually. It has to be one of my all time SAJB favourites. I'm overwhelmed.
Wonderful the obvious pleasure that these youngsters get from each other’s solos etc. Just so great to see all the support they give to each other. Many smiling faces there. AND on me! Special thanks to Magali. She must be shattered after that effort. ❤️👍😬🎷🎼

Maybe with the speed impressed to this execution Joan Chamorro wanted to test the capacity of the youngest players to keep the step at that crazy speed. Well, the did. All of them. But I must confess: the one that impressed me more has been the young and beautifuk Magali Datzira. She didn't look particularly impressed by the speed. Looking her face showing serenity, and her long fingers flying on th bass with such a ninchalance, was a real pleasure for me.
Can’t believe I only just heard this now - from 3 years ago! Wonderful playing all around at such a tempo!
She's also a great singer.

Just when you think it can't get any better this comes along! That bass player - out of this world, as a band they compete with ANY of the big bands of the past, superb, tight playing, and so much SMILING! This guy Joan has brought so much pleasure to their fans, and by the look of it the musicians as well. In these tough times they make me smile and shed tears of happiness at the same time. Bravo!

I can only imagine playing a solo standing next to Joel Frahm. I'd be terrified! But these guys all did an amazing job!
Joel always applauds the young sax players and I am sure they are inspired to even greater heights.

I’m out of breath! WOW!! What a barn burner!!! Besides the guests and the main quartet, I believe everyone here at the time of this video are teenagers with Andrea being the exception at twenty! Great solos by everyone, and Magali the Magnificent, The Iron Woman, there are no words!!!👏👏

A defining moment in the talent of Joan’s arrangement of Cheruki. The whole band presented itself as a kaleidoscope of super talent. The opening salvo by the Saxophonist set the orchestra on fire! This presentation though done in 2015 will never die. Lastly, kudos to the young lady on acoustic bass . What energy for a young woman!

Pour la plupart multi-instrumentistes, c'est remarquable de voir combien les artistes vont bien avec leurs instruments; C'est à se demander s'il ne sont pas nés avec! Quelle belle musique. Bravo. Et un tout p'tit plus peut-être pour Magali à la contrebasse qui assure terrible. Elle me rappelle la puissance de Ballaké Sissoko, dans un tout genre avec sa kora, qui apporte une pulsation délicate et puissante. Vraiment un enchantement. Now in 2021, Oct, revisiting this track.. which is a very good example of the maturing of the individually very talented SAJB. Members, shaped and formed by the selections and formative creative skills of the father figure Joan Chamorro.
In this track, one can see how his influence has allowed,& encouraged the multifaceted growth of his targeted youngsters...proteges. into what they are today in 2021.
Just look at the amazing Magali Datsira freaking out on the bass !! Wonderful. Great lack of restraint, feeling the music and the beat.. beyond her violin & other existing talents.. even the vocals in 2014 with her companions, Andrea Motis & Eva Fernandes.. On the track where they all sing together Amazing, youthful exuberance..
Then there's the others, playing sax, trombones, piano, trumpets - with a lot of enthused youthful, joyful, abandon & energy ..its v wonderful to see, revisit, and compare to today, the stature & maturity of these individuals..
For Joan Marti and Marcal Perramon in 2014 - 15 they were still struggling to emerge.. to grow, like butterflies emerging from the Chrysalis... to be free, to emulate ..like one of their role models ie Luigi Grasso & his effortless glissandos, interjections, taking over a phrase or section, effortlessly, ..notes dripping, glittering like water drops off an oar in the sunlight.., flying like an eagle.. magnificently..soaring..on high..
Here - you can see - by the selection, of THIS Track - how Joan Marti & Marcal Perramon, were pushed, & inspired, , to improvise at speeds that had not yet attempted, in public, - to emulate people like Luis Grasso, Dick Oats, Scott Hamilton, .. to break free, to soar.. to glide, and feel the power of their wings...!!
This Track records this moment so beautifully.. the time of growth, pressures, breaking free into new moulds, realising their genius - as their mentor Joan Chammoro & their shared spirit .shaped, hoped, as a parent... to where they now are - to become themselves.
I find this track so elevating, educational, in retrospect, and in its own way..so humbling..
This journey.. of our lives ..!!
