I get it’s UA-cam and he needs to have content but FFS, plan it out better to avoid costly mistakes.
I think he's just so used to a UA-cam video having a project start and finish. I wonder how his videos would do if he just showed what he worked on for 3 days, then ends it with "cya next week!"

If there's a hex on the house it's your own doing. I was screaming Noooo! When you put in that casing. Nobody puts in casing on a window they're going to replace. Idk if all of this out of order stuff is on purpose but sheesh
Well Alex, the house WOULD be easy to deal with if you were doing the renovation in proper order... Always start from inside to outside unless in a rare case where the outside needs to be fixed up first. Every comment since the first video on the house has been telling you that you're doing the renovation process wrong. Hell, why would you even dress up the old windows when you knew you were going to replace them? YOU made it harder on yourself, NOT the house. At this point I'm thinking you're doing this on purpose for these reactions. Either that, or your wife put you up to it. Maybe a mix of both, I don't know. And again, that basement/crawlspace needs to be finished so you can add extra storage and another full bathroom down there, with a tub since the upstairs one is a shower.
Did you only tape the bottom of the window? Did you not do any type of protection to the window sill? No caulk on the frame? Nice windows but dang, shoddy install done here unfortunately.
3:54 That's why in old movies anything that touched a window (like a throw baseball or socker ball) went straight through the windows. While nowadays that stuff will just bounce off. (Most of the time.)
Personally, I would recommend zip tape around the windows. It looks like you only used some sort of foil tape across the bottom outside of window in your video? When I install windows, I always run the sealer tape across the bottom of opening & up each side about 8". Then install the window, with adhesive caulking, & then screw it in after plumbing it up. Then run sealer tape around all 4 sides starting at the bottom for proper overlap. I never get leaks. No caulking, no sealer, good luck. Hopefully your eaves are big enough for a downpour, but a driving side rain may give you some leaks.
Also its easier to remove drywall then to add it. Use the circlesaw on the outside at finish of the rest with the Reciprocating Saw. Trim will cover any issues 😊
Why did I go with Pella? you absolutely don't go with big box. Went a literal year trying to correct some other big box store windows. Wrong sizes, horrible support. Would never buy windows from big box again.

For editor: music is very loud. I keep having to turn down the volume during music and turn it back up to hear dialogue.
Most windows are put in prior to the exterior cladding, in my experience, most window companies cut through the window flashing with a sawzall or grinder and replace the window, not worrying about the flashing. Again, love the channel but preplanning is a must.
To answer your question about the thinness of the old windows I believe it was because the price of heating was so cheap. When the house was originally built energy costs were very low. I remember windows like that in the first house my family lived in. It was in the late 1950’s😊. Thanks for your great videos!
It looks like he is using new construction windows instead of replacement windows, which allow you leave the old frames in place and screw in from the inside. Of course you have to tear everything out to make new construction windows fit.
Sometimes when the old frames are too old they don't carry the weight of double glazing or even thicker glass. Long term effect means that he'd need to replace everything again. You can't always just slide a new glass into old frames.

I’m assuming since you removed all the other windows moldings and extra layers of drywall, you’re trying to tell us that even if you removed that from the last 2 window opening your new windows would still be too big? I love how he gets mad for having to rip out stuff he did, when he knew he was putting new windows in. Like who puts the window casing and trim on before you put new windows in and expect to not take it out
Next episode: lays sod
Following episode: I have to rip up this grass to put in sprinklers? I just put the sod down! This guy and this house. Always something. Cursed.
The joy just seems gone. You had to of known doing everything to get this tear down flipped was going to be a pain in the ass. Embrace the suck caused by you and enjoy the ad revenue and flip profit in your bank account. It’ll all be worth it. Not worth getting pissed about.
Great video, you can fix anything
I’m not adjusting shit here🤣🤣🤣
Awesome video Mr Build It!
I’m assuming since you removed all the other windows moldings and extra layers of drywall, you’re trying to tell us that even if you removed that from the last 2 window opening your new windows would still be too big? Because it looks like you still have the casing and multiple layers of drywall, that would give you your 2 inches
I’m confused on how a professional measurement was this far off. It doesn’t instill much confidence in Pella honestly.
may i question the choice of using a single song over and over again, especially if its as generic-elevator music as this one? feels like every second ai generated video uses this track.....
Looks great!
He did the windows backwards. Should have installed the windows, and then the casings.
Looks great!! Sorry about the last two! 😢
That's crazy, Pay more and wait for windows that don't fit anyway. Could have just got them at Home depot.
I watch this channel because it gives me hope😂😂. I run into some of the same issues. Live and learn
Wear safety glasses when pulling glass brother u might need your eyes 👀
I think a lot of watchers forget this is a UA-cam channel lol. This build has more to do with making content than it does with doing these projects in the proper order. His deadlines are more to his subscribers than to that house. So if he needs to make content he’s going to do whatever he has at the time. Even if it’s out of order. Also again it’s content you may think he missed a pivotal step but in no way shape are form is he showing every thing he does. Editing exist for a reason lol.
the windows really tie the house together.
You forget to put insulation foam under and side to frame..😊😊
Did you cut into the header to get the window to fit? Wonder if it was enough to compromise the load its supposed to carry.
no he didn't. it was some buried old siding he cut.
Note to self: Do not do finish work before the work is finished.
To bad the guy didnt measure correct from the inside..
Would still be wrong from the inside, it should have been a standard 7x4 window. Most single pain aluminum are smaller. Interior than exterior
Windows are beautiful!
Call me crazy, but aren’t the window flanges supposed to go behind the siding?
Your measure guy didn't do you any favors. He could have given you a 1/2 inch margin.
I knew this was gonna bite him in the ass when he started finishing exterior and then the interior. Poor guy loves doin double work.
